Herman! Good Morning!
The StuG is really shaping up now. Beautiful work! I'm looking forward to seeing it in Paint.

Cheers Mr Wolf, it’s a StuG now it has the gun & mantlet!
Next mission is to cut and profile the armour.
Spent a while on the phone and net trying to decide how to mount the rear sections of schurzen next to the engine deck.
Freestyle it can be but still needs to be a plausible method.
Robustness is key too, no point having brass schurzen if it’s as fragile as plastic eh !

Great Stug. I'm thinking if I ever build a German tank it will be a Stug. I remember building a 1/35 scale model of one way back when I was like 12.

One side of the Schurzen mounting is on.
Superglued, and bolted just to make sure.

Plan is to use cardboard to template the panels then cut them out of brass sheet.
Looking at the pictures, the skirts seems to be cut to shape and bolted to the mount along the entire length of the guards,
It doesn’t even look like they overlap,
Once I have the initial templates made, I can decide then on any overlap.

Good Morning Herman!
You've got the pedal down on this Build now. It's turning out pretty StuG-gish but nothing else would be expected!

Thanks Mr Wolf, and nothing less would be delivered !!
If only it were this easy  .............cardboard & tamy masking tape used to template the side armour.
Wonder if I could just glue it on & paint it :lolno: .............

Seems to have about the right look across the various plates, and the height above the roadwheels.
I checked the shapes and material size using a spare Stug schurzen plate from one of the German manufacturers.
And in my humble opinion, this entire layout could have been made using the set of issued schurzen cut up & placed in a careful manor.
As for the mounts, I can only assume the redundant factory mounts were reshaped to hold the new version on.
Apart from the angle iron along the guard of course.
For now Im out of small bolts, very bad miscalculation after burning them up on my JS 2 build :(
Not sure how to overcome that as there are no suppliers down here & getting them from overseas will take too long.
So the quest begins

Herman, Good Morning,
That is an interesting add on armor configuration to be sure. Good luck on the bolt front. Almost anything is twice as hard to get and three times as dear in price these days.

Herman,

I have purchased Simulate Bolts from BNA, they usually have a pretty good selection.

Yes they do have them, but I need real bolts to maintain a bit of resilience for handling & operation.
I will get them somewhere Im sure.
