Finished detailing the right side. Added insignia with mud. Kind of going for the last stand hide in the mud abandoned tank look. Used some light wire to tie down the tow cables like it was done in the field in a rush. Scratches, rust, dripping mud...all fun effects.

I will try to get some cloudy day outdoor shots. It looks very real in person...

RECOIL MOD:

There have been several people interested in the recoil mod so I have drawn up some plans.

Picture is of the microswitches and recoil unit
Diagrams are self explanatory. If they are not, just ask.

Don't forget: You need to modify the barrel carrier and the INTERNAL slides of the recoil unit per RCCommand instructions.

I also bought another type of regulator , lm317 based like most, for 8$ on ebay. Type in 'adjustable voltage regulator' and one of the listings is 'prototype made in China'

Hi xrad,just recieved my Tank Modelbau unit from Welsh Dragon.He told
me that it should be possible to fit a plug to the green wire and plug into
one of the RX18 sockets but can't say which,does that sound right.
Also where specifically did you pick up your power supply (red and black
wires)for the unit.

Green wire is the modellbau 'trigger' to set off the relay timer circuit. I would only use pin three on the chip as described in the modellbau manual(put a little solder the green wire tip first and then gently and quickly solder it to pin 3, don;t mess up the board or ground the gren wire to someting else nearby!!). You could probably get a trigger off some other point, but you want the trigger to come from as close to the source as possible.

red is from positive 7.2v at power switch (obviously the side that is 'switched' on and off, not the side that is always 'hot')

black is to batt ground (splice into big black wire going to batt)

Hi xrad,just installed my Tank Modellbau unit.I followed the instructions
that came with it and your very helpful schematics,all self explanitary.
I bought the version with the led hoping it might correct the poor synch
of the recoil and flash but it seemed to make no difference.When I tried
the unit it certainly elliminated the tank recoil as it is supposed to do,
however after firing about six times the unit seemed to stop working,
the tank recoil returned and the led stopped flashing.With the exception
of the flash not working the tank performs as if the unit had never
been installed,I'm puzzled,got any ideas.

Hmmmmmm...

check your solder connection at pin three...may be loose. Check ground and power wires, too. It ios possible that they are loose at the modellbau unit board as well. Unlikely that the board failed unless hooked up wrong...

If you want the flash to sinc...you would have to add the microswitch to do it mechanically. It can be done electronically as well, but it would require designing a circuit which closes a relay switch(closing the brown and yellow wires of the flash harness) and which is triggered by the number 3 pin on the chip (it would be the opposite of the Modellbau unit) This would fire the flash in sinc with the recoil.

Did you watch my video and see the nice flash/recoil in sinc? nice...but lot's of work..
