Re: Panzer Spirit Build 2022 - ?
A couple more hours spent plus some of the last bits needed arrived. All that remains is the 'Queen of the Elves' figure and some Stencils from Rad. Continuing on the Sherman Detail. I have an entire day tomorrow to put into it and am looking forward to that. ( Mate is up North in Denver doing a few lines in a short film )

Nice. Looks much better than my redheaded step child Sherman. Not really a Sherman guy even though I've driven one in real life. Need to figure out what color to paint mine as it needs a new coat of paint.

Tankme,
Appreciate the lookin! The paint this Sherman came with is sort of a Tamiya Olive Drab. I've always favored Model Masters but since Testors bought them it's almost impossible to find locally. I'll be working with the color I found to replicate the shading of add on super thin plating. It will be a patchwork Tank but more faithful to the one depicted in the novel that I have based this dual Build out of.
regards,
Painless

That's because Testors has killed the Model Masters line of paint. They are no longer making it.PainlessWolf wrote:Tankme,

Good Morning, Herman!
The StuG is really shaping up in Primer and Paint over there. I'm following along ( and the narrow tracks look good under all that zim and primer ). Today is another Sherman day but if things go well, I can add some detail to the Jagdpanther and put some pics up. Tankme, thanks for the info. I had figured as much talking long distance with the guys over at Hobby Linc. They still have some of the basic colors in back stock but Model Masters has already been relegated to modeling history. A damn shame but change, etc...etc...

I keep a typescript copy of the text of Zaloga, Steve, "A Look at Getting the ‘Right' Color" from Military Modeling, 2002. Zaloga goes through the history of OD, FS 34087, and all the variants. I have always favored Model Master's version both for the color and for the ease of using it in the spray bomb or bottle or airbrush. When I run out, I will turn to the Tamiya spray and bottle. I don't know about copyright, but I found Zaloga's article online a long time ago. PM me if you want a copy. (Hint: Zaloga wasn't satisfied with any of the model colors, but he offers corrections and specifics.)

Re: Panzer Spirit Build 2022 - ?
Herr Dr. Professor. PM sent! Today wasn't as model specific as I had wanted thanks to a Honey-Do list for Spring Cleaning the domicile. After the work was done, I got back to the Sherman and was able to finish the detailing. I will add spare track links after paint and weathering is complete. It's ready to paint the details and the crew and add some minor markings ( minor since the book does not specify unit, etc. ) This is a somewhat rare version of the tank I realized today. An early, low bustle turret on an M4A3 Lower. *Hmmms* Well, the Novel is outre, the Armor should be so too. To Herman's delight ( I hope ) I started up the Jagdpanther with a new Li-ion battery and did a small video check of the functions. I will go forward with detailing this tank killer and come back to the Sherman at painting time.

Making me jealous with that Jagdpanther. I guess I'll have to build one when I get done with all my Russian projects...
