Thank you Carl and Raminator. I always learn something new. And as Carl mentioned on his recent build: This forum and all your builds are fantastic inspiration. Can't repeat that often enough. I wouldn't have done anything like that hadn't I come across this board.
And yes, the build and the painting phase after that is what I enjoy in this hobby. The ability to run the is just an added bonus.
And as Mr Painless Wolf once wrote: it is up to us to go from a runner to a jeweled up shelf queen. We can have it all.
Speaking of details, this is what Dragon does in 1/35th scale. You can use these as a guide, at least this is how I do. Of course, all the added stuff is not perfectly accurate, so please keep your blueprints in your pockets
Getting back to Mr Surfacer. It took me some time to finally order the leveling thinner. Had the Surfacer here for months but couldn't use it because no chance to rework it or clean brushes. Now I got a hang to it and gonna use it anywhere. It is great fun to work with. Should have started earlier and bring it to use on the Jagdpanther. That would have helped very much. The same is true for the Revell putty. You can see that on the engine hatch. Works good and is better suited for larger area filling than Valley putty.
The surface was mostly sanded with my angle grinder, files, sandpaper. Each little scratch then covered by Mr Surfacer adds to this interesting texture. It is too rough in some areas. But this is part of my artistic license in this build. It turned out really great on the turret now with paint on and I will try to reproduce it in the hull roof as well.
Now enough of my Sunday morning talk. Have a nice day.
