Re: Metal Origins SdKfz 234/2 Puma
The first of the 6 jerrycans is now sitting in its frame, ready to be fitted once I have got the body painted to my satisfaction.
The second is soldered up, ready for painting. I must try to remember in future it is not a good idea to pick up PE assemblies that have just had a blow torch applied to them

This kit is looking like it is top quality, having seen the lump of chassis and now the hull, this is something that is going to look, sound, and go very nicely.

I certainly hope so. I shall still be in need of help and advice in the final setting up, including fitting recoil and a battle system. (Big hint!)

Both the turret hatches are equipped with periscopes. I am intending to fix some transparent plastic to represent the glass, but what colour should I paint what sits behind it to give a good impression?

Re: Metal Origins SdKfz 234/2 Puma
For a multiplicity of reasons, it has been a while since I have anything to report. I received the replacement stub axle, which has been fitted, so I now have an 8 wheeled armoured car with 8 wheel! A couple of the wheel were well out of alignment, so I have shortened the steering arms. The motor and steering servo have been refitted so the chassis is now complete. There is not a lot of room inside, to say the least.

Re: Metal Origins SdKfz 234/2 Puma
This is a heads up for anyone else who decides to build one of these. It's only a little thing but may save you a lot of messing about. The wheels are fitted with what I will call hub caps after fitting the wheels on to the vehicle.
As is my wont, I spray primed the wheels and caps, then airbrushed them with a couple of top coats, before fitting them. I assume the caps are intended to be a tight push fit, so that they can be removed if one ever needs to remove a wheel. The consequence of the painting is that the thickness of the paint coats means that they don't fit. I shall have to very carefully remove the paint on the sides of the caps. My fear is being too heavy handed and take off too much, when they will be too loose and fall out without glueing.Richard

Re: Metal Origins SdKfz 234/2 Puma
Good call Mr Surfer, surprising how much volume paint adds
I assume taking the surface back to bare metal should restore the fit ?
A spot of PVA glue can add the required retention if you do go a little to hard on the sanding.
And its still able to allow the cap to be removed when required.
