Re: Intro to the Open Panzer Project - and a new Control Boa
The day has finally arrived - the TCB is available for purchase from HobbyKing! Click here for the product page.
It's not quite the correct shade of Open Panzer purple but the price is even better than I had expected. The price is less than it cost me to make prototypes by hand, and my labor is free!
I don't see the Tamiya adapater cables for sale - I've asked HobbyKing about it and will post here when I get an update. Could be they just haven't made it on the site yet.

Wow that's awesome! Does it still need external esc for drive and turret rotation and elevation? Isn't clear from the description if that's the case

The description on the Hobby King website was written by them and I agree is not useful in the least. The Open Panzer website will remain the authoritative source for all information regarding this project.tomhugill wrote:Wow that's awesome! Nothing has changed about the product as described in this thread and in the Wiki. I know there's a lot of information in the wiki, but anybody who wants to use the TCB really needs to read it in its entirety. You may come across some parts that won't apply to you or your setup, that's fine, you can skip that. But all the details that are important to you will be found there.
The first page under the TCB Operation section titled "Quick Start" answers your questions directly.
Even more information about motor control can be found in the Motor Control section.

That's a good question about the ESC. I've started an FAQ section and I've just added my thoughts on speed controller selection, read it here.c.rainford73 wrote:Hi again Lukeyour reccomended esc is the sabertooth or the pololu qik. Any size reccomendation for the sabertooth? ( model number)

You'll have to ask Erik about the Taigen sound card, I don't know when they plan to release that. As for the Open Panzer sound card, it's in very early beta testing. I will add a section to the FAQ about the current status of it and the Scout ESC, but even if these things ever do see production, it's not going to be anytime soon, for sure not this year.

Congratulations, Luke! I'd actually just checked up on HK the day before yesterday, looks like I was just too early.
They've done well to get it as cheap as they have, it'll be great to see these start popping up.
