Sometimes the blindingly obvious evades you.

One observation - I used a chipping undercoat made by AK Interactive. The yellow cans were top coated with Tamiya paint and the grey ones with Vallejo.  When dampened to enable the top coat removal, the Vallejo paint was much more responsive. It was much more difficult getting the Tamiya paint off, whereas the Vallejo almost came off too easily.

I can't take any credit for those.  I bought the tank from Spartan Tracks, who did the DAK paint scheme and battle damage.
