Enlighten me, Gary, old man about this woodland diorama.. that's building in your head like some set from a Cecil B. De Mille movie. You're going to mix Tiger tanks, with Model 'T' Fords, Dunstaffnage Castle, and other eclectic knick knacks...that's a very odd mix for a WW2 setting, but hey ho, you might also include Glenfinnan Viaduct (familiar from Harry Potter movies, and close to Dunstaffnage):


...all self-respecting war movies have papier mache bridges/viaducts- or even dams- to blow up, and compulsory steam train derailments!
Then, when your undersized Flak guns have finished peppering Dunstaffnage (doubling as Colditz?), you can substitute nearby ruin, Kilchurn Castle (Loch Awe, near Oban and Dunstaffnage) for Dunstaffnage: By the way, Your pet Highland castle is only 172 miles from me..so if you ever get airborne..well, it's a good walk from here

I guess you'll have to see it all together. My castle definitely won't be a replica of Dunstaffnage, merely based upon that fine structure. I'm already thinking of painting the place.

When you see the T behind the barn you'll see that it fits. Remember, we also have to work with what we can pick up for next to nothing. Another thing to remember is that it's not so much a continuous scene, but more like a series of backdrops for photo opportunities, if ya see where I'm goin'.

And if ya ain't buyin' any of that ... remember ... I am in the land of Disney World.

Oh yeah, I'm trying to work a deal for a 1/16 Franklin Mint '29 Cord for 20 bucks. That would look great in front of the Gasthaus, eh?

Well, there were Berliners who like Jazz and all things from the 'Roaring Twenties' before the rise of Adolf's lot. For all we know, the Commandant of Colditz might well have turned down the use of a bulky gestapo-like Mercedes as a staff car, for his beloved quirky Model 'T'... ..or even the '29 Cord. There were, doubtless, collectors and eccentrics in Germany before the War..it's just that Adolf had most of them murdered or interned.

Disney world and the World of MacTrump (There can be only one....) By the way, most castles were actually painted..mostly white, to stand out in the landscape, but also to look imposing, or dominant. It's just that when we get to see them, centuries later..the paint has long washed away. No doubt, the General would have the only pink painted castle though, eh?

OK, what would a castle be without flak guns on the towers? And maybe some air cover parked near the highway where they can scramble in a hurry to defend the fortress?

And the things you find that can be converted for use in the tank park! Birdhouses!! Who'd have thunk it?

Gary, I think the usual three letter alternate to the £ sign is "GBP" (Great Britain or British Pound) Hope your holiday is going well Sir.

Just be careful when filming Gary, that full-size birds don't mistake the "Gazebo' for the birdhouse it once was Still, I grant you it really looks the part. All it needs now is a wounded Stalingrad veteran (scale bandages, or leg cast required..maybe with an eye patch too.). I'm picturing a James Coburn style figure from the superb "Cross of Iron (1977) movie. He would need a scale bathchair and scale bottle of schnapps. (I could do with both right now! ). I'll confess, I'm looking forward to seeing how you put this all together. Meantime, I shall see if I can dream up a catchy production name...unless you've settled on one.

A very good mornng for FedEx delivery. I received both the 1/16 SpecCastTD-14 Dozer and the 1/18 Daimler certified G4 with figures. Photos once I get the main PC up this Thursday.
