Hydrolitastic!!!

This is what I was blabbering on about when I had a wild idea re using three crystals and one transmitter. It's only a bare box at the moment, I will need some brass tube to make the crystal sockets, and brass rod to make a plug to go into the tx. Although I know that the idea will work, I haven't a clue what will happen to the signal when it goes through wiring etc??

I am using coiled antenna's inside the hull, but the signal drops off within a few feet, as to whether this is because I have three of them in there, and everything is close to electrics I don't know. I may have to make three external ones to get good reception.

This may be a really dumb question, but can't all three receivers share the same external antenna? And that new gizmo looks the biz! Alwyn

You may be right, I hadn't even considered that option. I will give it a go.

Printed one half of the dozer blade and after a couple of attempts I got a good one. The next day I thought it would be a simple matter to print the other half. I have spent two days and numerous aborted prints trying to do it, but the printer is struggling. lol. They take 5-7 hours to print, and they have been going wrong after two. I am wasting stacks of filament. Grrrr.

I am now going to try tipping it upright and printing it that way, If that doesn't work I will coat the rubbish one in the pic with filler and go with that.

Hi Rob, just got a three section transmission cover from Woz which looks like it's printed on it's side - maybe check with Woz to see how he's doing it as the quality was great although it did need a small amount of fill? Woz coats his builds with knifing putty anyway to give a better finish.

I reckon printing it upright will do the trick. The problem with the dozer blade is that by default the software flipped it so that it was printing from the sharp edges up, it then calculates how much infill is needed to support the two halves until they meet. Well when it starts there is only a very narrow line that is being built up on each side, and a huge lattice of plastic in the middle. Hence getting the base to stay stuck down while other layers are going on is the problem. It's a feature of 3D printing, everyone suffers from it to one extent or another at some point.

If I print it end up, then no support lattice will be needed. It should work ok, it's an accurate printer, and seems to be happy running all day now that I have the teething problems identified.
