Actually Jack... the airbrush you have...though cruder in appearance... does the same job ...invest in a compressor first I would say... it will give you a more consistent flow of air than those pressure cans...and in the long run will save you some dollars
What you do then is just cut stencils out of plastic or cardboard...and run your "shade" along the edges ;)

Still have two like the one you have...use them to clean my other airbrushes now...but they do work ok so don't sell yourself short on it...and you still have the option of China copies...the two links I PMed you were for name brand units ...you can get Chinese guns for half or less the price

Here's an example of a Package..has three Chinese copy guns... and compressor
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-3-Airbrush- ... 48678b2f11
Image
Same with this one...has an Iwata look alike gravity feed gun ...the thing that's nice on this one is it has a reserve tank connected to the compressor
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Airbrush-Ki ... 0593716868
Image
Gun by itself ...gravity feed..dual action
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Handle-Gravity- ... 58a81b73ab
Image
Gun by itself ...siphon feed...dual action
http://www.ebay.com/itm/0-35MM-Pro-Dual ... 4189c1b9b8

These Chinese copy guns and sets are on Ebay all the time...they are super affordable ...great for the Hobbyist
Stuff like what I use is a little more complicated to set up...like my miller compressors...they are old school... so no power switch on them...you have to connect it to a foot pedal on off switch water trap ...etc ...I'm used to using it ...but it might be disconcerting for someone else ;)

Good Luck with your search Jack

For those who are entering the world of double action suction feed airbrushing....

DON'T BUY THIS !!!!
Image

The Badger Crescendo / Anthem....(the Anthem is the gravity feed version)
Image

I bought it because I thought it would be not bad....after all it's a Badger ;) ....what Badger did was copy the Passche design... thinking
it was similar thought to myself why not give it a shot :lolno: ....I got it at a rather bargain price on Ebay...and was rather excited about having a Badger that worked like my Passche

Turns out when it arrived...it's shortcomings were so very apparent.... the velocity cone is made of very soft brass...and was already damaged from the previous owner..(guessing the reason for the bargain buy it now price)...the control needle extended far beyond the point where it's supposed to rest...revealing over a 1/4 inch out of the nose of the gun

It shot ok...but wouldn't shut off when the trigger was released...which it should
Ordered new parts for it...Luckily I found a terrific seller with great prices for the parts ...spent roughly 12.00 for a med velocity cone ...a fine cone ...and a fine needle ...came in less than a week so all in all not bad as far as the repair went ;)

Anyway...this is the reason the gun is junk...it's a poor copy if anything...apparently in someones mind...one of the things aside from making the cone out of anything but stainless (Passche's is stainless) but of soft brass ...They left the adjustment for the trigger off 8O
Image

The adjuster serves many purposes... the most important is not allowing needle contact with the cone when in storage...the other ...not allowing the needle to slam into the cone while in use...as these two things will cause the expansion of the cone

So for those who are in the market...avoid this gun...for those who have one already...adjust your needle after you clean the gun and just before you use it ...this is done by loosening the knurled knob under the back handle

Bottom line...Get the Passche :haha: ...for some reason they sell for less ... but man...are they just better made as well as designed

Happy Airbrushing Gents

In March last year being under orders to clean out the garage I found a brand new boxed "AEROGRAPH SPRITE MAJOR" airbrush, so on to E-BAY and found a nice and cheap compressor, by the way GOOGLE described my airbrush as "Venerable" :haha: thats as maybe but included in the box was a set of shrink wrapped seals which I changed for the originals and I now have a "VENERABLE" brand new and FREE airbrush! Oh and welcome home ALPHA, missed you. shaun

Hi old friend, the airbrush was manufactured by a very well regarded British company "DeVILLBISS" and it was made in 1979, surely that makes it venerable? :haha: oh and would you mind changing the cane backed chair for something with a nice cushion instead. shaun

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH...DeVILLBISS.... I know their Paint guns well...they actually market an airbrush under that name now as well...very expensive though... but I'm sure the quality is there :D

What surprises me about your find...is that you never offered it back to the guy who threw it out ...I mean it had to have been a mistake :haha:

Which brings up the issue about the cushion on the chair....it felt like something was missing ... it was there when I left... "someone" else must have snagged it :haha: :haha: ;)
