Sorry to hijack your excellent thread Phil but I have answered my question about sourcing this tank in the UK.

So anyone else inspired to go forth with a T34 off the back of this excellent work will be pleased to know Forgebear has started listing these.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161144962083? ... 1423.l2649

I just hope I get some shifts or he has them in stock early next year. (Couldn't sweet talk the missus!). .

Front mud guard had to go!
Image

Filed down the front light, and started roughing up the turret with Mr 500, few more layers to bring it inline with the welds which I think are a bit big. I did them but had to go out and by the time I got back and looked at them they had set, hence plan B ad more Mr 500!

edit: blast it, just spotted a dog hair!

Its getting mighty cold in my garage, I need some heat now ready for winter as Tank modding is a bit restricted in my house due to my wife giving me the "you just dare" look!

Got to admit she is OK with most things I get up to though.

Good Morning,
This T-34 is another tank that would benefit from a clear lens over the headlight (like the searchlight on your Sherman, Phil) There has to be a place where these things can be found in sizes to fit our hobby. Outside of spares from model car kits.

Painless

Dr Phil ....I have got to get the name of your welder.... I think mine was on crack :haha: it sure is coming along nicely can't wait to see you super detail that beauty... you going to fabricate a fender ? or just leave it off

I know the one I'm doing won't go as far as yours... it doesn't need to lol ;)

One thing for sure... these T34s are nice... and with all the secrets you discovered... make them even more fun to work on :D

Bit more work, 1 - going to ad hinges this side of engine cover after looking at a few pictures online.
2 - Taken out a couple of bolts just to ad a bit of interest - seen this on photos.
3 - Added pipes from the smoke oil barrels that this used to drop onto the exhaust for smoke screens.

Turret almost finished except casting numbers.

Good Morning,
It is really coming along nicely, Phil. That is a rough and ready approach to generating a smoke screen. Also, why would they have hinges on both sides of a heavy piece like that back cover?

At a guess the rear looking hinges look like locating lugs, but I could be wrong.

Top of the Day Dr Phil... interesting photos.... is that how you are going to do your hinges ? very cool...

I did notice something though... and believe me I'm no rivet counter... but isn't the rear access hatch also different... that one is square

Image

Image

Trumpeter models their round hatched tanks as such...

With that said though.. I can see how yours would be more realistic ... as if the entire rear was to drop off...
Image

for transmission work.... it would make more sense the deck lid would open like in your photos

GOOD JOB DOC

Maybe the T34 cover swings both ways... :S
