Thinking about it the shell needs to taper at both ends.
The back obviously does not go to a point;)

Just realised I forgot to change the shell diameter from 7.2" to 6", less haste more speed, quick fix, I'll do it tomorrow and get some samples printed.

I think the containers are for the cordite charges, hence they are shorter than the actual shells. My rough calculations give a shell length of 36mm. There should be a gradual curve towards the top, and the bottom slightly boat shaped. The fuses for the shells would have been boxed, and I think the shells would have been wrapped as shown in my first picture, though I bow to the personal knowledge of artyfist.

Ok, using an online scale calculator.

Length = 21"
Dia =6"

in 1/16

Length = 33.3mm
Dia = 9.5mm

So, the shell on the left is to those dimensions. The first pic above shows the internal of a shell but the dimensions relate to the thin line which is the shell casing. Looking at shellpics online for a 6", the variety of shells for each gun come in different lengths and profiles, so I am guessing that this gun would be no different, I'll match the shape to one of those.

I can do two types of ammo crate, one solid for stacking, and another few open.

Is everyone happy now?? lol.

A bit of 4mm mdf should do.
What do you want for the wall?
Maybe we can talk about it on sunday, do we put a wall all round and maybe a gate?
Is there a meeting this Sunday 16th July?
Thanks
Kevin

Just a thought. The 6" howitzer must have made an almighty bang when it was fired. Will ours produce a similar impact on the landscape?

Full sound effects, but it depends on how loudly you can shout 'Boom'!!

I have some SD card readers on a slow boat from China, the plan is to figure out how to play sounds stored on an SD card using the Arduino. If I can do that, then one will be attached to the howitzer, and I will use the other to try and run an RX18 with an Arduino for IR, and wav files for the tanks sounds instead of the RX18 sound effects.

Did the shells but the printer heater was playing up, might go back and re-do them, but they are aren't as bad as they look. The other canisters are printing.
