Yes the Hot Rod looks rough but soon it will be cleaned up and tested. All std WPL running gear with custom alloy chassis
Also a sneak peak at the mad survivalist Tracked VW Camper pickup i am working on. Looks slightly odd, but another bit of harmles fun

The VW is very cool. Reminds me a bit of the vehicles in "The Spy Who Loved Me".

Son of a gun-ner wrote:Son of a gun-ner wrote:Will these motors be any good?
They are from 64th scale slot cars, work well at 16 volts plus, but will work at lower voltages, used six volt power supplies for breaking in beginners.
They measure up, just the casing. 19mm long, 18mm wide and 9.5mm thick, with a spindle of 1.5mm diameter.

I guess not then. . . .
I would guess that they will not be very torquey. Especially considering they rated for 16v. But on 3s or 4s they may be good

I think 600rpm is roughly the speed you need for scale speed.
If you look on eBay for 6v 600rpm geared motor you'll find the bigger the motor the more torque, you just need to squeeze it into the chassis lol

I painted the truck and trailer. I also added some no slip tape to the trailer, so tanks won't slip driving up.
The only issues left are waiting on metal drive shafts (the plastic ones either slip or break at the U-joints), and modifying the 5th wheel to lock the trailer. Right now, driving a heavy tank onto it pulls the trailer off the truck. I'll need to fix this for when I get the Bruder up and running.
I have no idea why my camera has decided to start taking crappy pictures.

Looks really good.
The issue i am still getting is breaking the splines and joints on my axles and transmission of all my WPL trucks!
Started to see them cracking where they fit onto the spline and then they just spin, have the bevel gears falling off the spline inside the rear axle, u-joints pulling apart and also u-joints popping off the spider.

Hmmm, I haven't had trouble with the axles yet. Just the drive shafts. Its probably due to the throttle limit settings on my radio. Or, that the 180 motor I have has more speed than torque.
My buddy has a set of the metal axles on the way for his hillux. I'll see if it possible to convert the rear to a passthrough for the 6x6 when they arrive.
