with all the bolts on the conduits, did you actually bolted them in or glued?
Nexusys, your words are too kind.

The simulated bolts will be glued in when the time comes.

As planned I proceeded to build the Gunner’s Sight/Sensor Window and Armored Housing.

First up was to reinforce the existing opening in the HL turret. I have had 2 cracks emanating from the corners of the opening, likely the results of all the handling during all the work done to it. I added .060” styrene sheet glued to the inside overlapping the edges of the opening by approx. .250”. Last thing I want is another crack or the reopening of one of the previous ones.

The window and housing from the Trumpeter kit required modification. The window to fit inside the inner housing and the armored housing to correct shape issues. Which appear as the added white styrene strips on the gray kit plastic. I fabricated a new base plate for the housing from styrene with bolt and nut casting.

The plan was to build an “inner housing” from brass. I chose brass to facilitate the attachment of hinges from small thin wall brass tubing for the doors that are made of brass as well.

That's all for now...Thanks for checking in!

First, thank you Nexusys!

I do "plan" on making the springs, they hold the doors open. I received some .009" #0 piano wire today and "hope" to actually make springs but that remains to be seen.
If I can't make real springs I will add coiled wire so they at least look like springs. The challenge will be winding the wire around a .020" drill bit. It is the only steel rod I have that is small enough to wind it around. 8O

I am currently working on the armored gun shield for the Loader's Station. It has more binds and angles than the roadway up the Escarpment from Jedda to Taif in Saudi Arabia!! I am working with brass so it will withstand a few bumps and bangs, I hope.

I "may" have some pics tomorrow depending how things go.

Cheers for now,
Barry
