Re: Dragon 1/6 RC DAK Kubelwagen re-build
I have now added the red and orange (as close as I could get , looks more orange, just camera shows it yellower) lenses to the convoy light . The orange ones are the break lights so Ive done my best to make them so they don't illuminate .

Re: Dragon 1/6 RC DAK Kubelwagen re-build
I have made the other round rear light seen only on early Kubels . I used a HL 1:16 head light and cut two circles one orange one red then cut them in half and glued the two different halves together to form the twin lens light , I added a thin strip of styrene over the join to make it look more athentic. This I glued to the Heng Long light housing . I sectioned it of so that only the red glows up. This one will run from fiber optic cable .

Internal shot of the lighting system . The black cable coming out the back is the fiber optic cable fitted to the rear round light.

Re: Dragon 1/6 RC DAK Kubelwagen re-build
I have now fitted the front working Notek light . This has a switch so when the head lights are on the front Notek is of then with the switch moved the headlights go off and the front Notek light comes on . The rear lights are un affected.
Ive added a LED to light up the round rear light to.

This is the new electronic set up the small tube to the right of the switch contains the LED that has a length of fiber optic cable running to the rear round light.

Re: Dragon 1/6 RC DAK Kubelwagen re-build
Hi ,Had a little crash after a power spurt ? most of the crash damage is repaired now . Today after it was mentioned to me I have made the speedometer illuminate on the dashboard . I still need to block out some of the light that's showing and sort the cables . Sorry the picts are not very good.

To make this I made a round tunnel , mounted the dial so that there was a space for the light from the LED to shine through . I added the front lens and rim (several attempts at this) and slide the LED in from the rear . Its all wired in so once the lights come on the dial is illuminated.

Re: Dragon 1/6 RC DAK Kubelwagen re-build
Hi, Im relatively new to model building... I recently completed a real '58 beetle rebuild, so Im used to running on anxiety and adrenalin and no sleep! I have just managed to score an unopened 1/6 Dragon Kubelwagon (DAK). Im ready to start building but need some advice on the best way to RC it. I've read that the best way is to use the existing (Dragon) running gear and to fit a Tamiya RC unit. Can someone tell me if this is correct and possibly point me in the direction of where I can source this kit? Any build-up advice would be very welcome. Thanks. Michael.

Hi Michaelo ,your nearly correct ,a lot of builders use the chassis from the Tamiya gravel hound , if you google 1/6 dragon Kubelwagon rc conversion , there's a lot of info
