Been getting on with this a bit today.
Gave the roadwheels a bit of a treatment with Vallejo 73.802 Russian Splash Mud to start, and Mig pigment 3014 Russian Earth over top to soak up the gloss.
Once I get Taigen tracks from Mr F.bear I can paint & weather accordingly.
For now, the plastic ones will do.

Cheers Mr Rainford, I reckon its a Russian WW2 thing that I can easily tap into to make it rough & primitive.c.rainford73 wrote:Now looking rough and rugged as the real one
As a Russian Gun collector back in my other life & country, the concept of basic function over form was obvious. As long as it worked all the time, what it looked like or how the men liked it from a comfort perspective was irrelevant.
Men are weak- steel is hard...............one man falls-another rises to take his place..............and he must be armed..........

Almost done. made an ammo crate for the D10 100mm shells.
Secured to the engine deck with embroidery yarn(thanks Mr Frankie) which was lightly stained with wash.
The crate is made from real wood, just leftover bits from other projects & filled with magnetic strip and PVA glue, raked over by a stainless wire brush to enhance the grain.
This one I decided to press a pointed end of a file into the spots where a nail might be.
Once washed over with MiG Brown for German Dark yellow (Mig 1000) it looks close enough for this kid.
I might chuck a tarp over the right rear corner to break up the fuel tanks, but not sure yet.
With Fathers Day looming down here, I have a feeling that the next project might be a "surprise" for me

It's looking great, Herman!
That indent for a nail with a touch of stain works wonders for wooden crates and blocks. Following along!
