I am a great believer in "MMD Green Putty" It can be watered down and once dry it smooths down very easily with an application of wet & dry.
I found a tube in the bottom of the tool box and it would squeeze out of the tube but it looked F*c*ed, added water and it was as good as new.

I got these a while ago on eBay and are taking forever to arrive.
They are MATO so does that mean they might not fit? Also any ideas on how to attach them to my HL hull to make them openable?

Hello ;)

you must already remove the existing ones, to do this, mini drill and drill 0.8 or 1 mm maximum, be careful of breakage, then make a succession of holes in the existing one, to be able to then blow up with an Xacto or Cutter, then file to the dimensions of the metal hatch, and glue a piece of plastic or ABS card under the upper frame in order to prevent the hatch from passing through, plan to be larger in the roundness of the axis of rotation to drill the fixing hole , I hope to be clear enough, for understanding?

Also any recommendations from Amazon on what plastic sheets to buy? Or maybe it's better to get them from a local hobby shop? I've never used plastic sheets in modelling before.

Never used Plasticard ------!!!
You will be telling this Forum you don't have a Pin Vice next :lolno:
For Plasticard I use ---
http://www.stationroadbaseboards.co.uk/
It is a London situated company.
My favoured boards are 1mm and 3mm, 3 sheets of each should help to get you started
Your X-acto Saw and a marker pen and rule will be enough to cut your boards accurately.
