I just wanted to post an extra pic of the home made 3:1 gear reduction I added to the tammy gearboxes. Also, home made shaft extension. These pics can be found on old site, and the description is still on page one or two of this thread. These are for anyone who has not read the whole thread and wants the power to easily move 16-18lbs of metal and plastic without overwhelming the drive circuits.

Here is a shocker. On the old site I posted a pic of a JP on grass. A few of us were trying to figure out the scale. Some though it was full, and other's 1/6. Anyway, I found theoriginal site where this tank comes from and it is....................1/35!!!

super work and great finishing.....

trying out my new photo resizer..... set at 800 x 600 from dropdown and resolution to 'good' seems to work

you can create a new file on yourown with desktop dropdown or just click 'source to destination' button and rename the destination file with additional extension like 'mini' or something.

more painting:
1) tiny brush to apply silver to well worn areas
2) then tiny brush and watered down black for more dirt and oil stains in cracks and welds
3) then more rust wash
4) then two coats dullcoat

few more things to go....

No , I did not forget the insignias...just left them off

Just received my Tank-Modellbau recoil control for the Heng Long rx14-18 boards. THANKS Welsh Dragon!

Three wires, red green black. Instructions (in german...so I don't understand all the words) say just wire red and black to 7.2v and wire the green trigger wire to the 3rd pin on the rx18 board . then interrupt the red motor power wires and splice into the correct screws.

I would love to cut open the black cover on the Modellbau unit to see what's on their board........Probably a timer circuit which interrupts a relay circuit(which controls the higher amp motor circuit via the red wires) when it senses a falling or rising edge signal from the trigger wire.....just a guess though...

well, I'm back in the dungeon working on the JP. Installed the Modellbau unit. Works most excellently!! The relay cuts off the motor power long enough for my recoil mod to function correctly. Here is a vid in 'action' (or rather, no track 'action')

I highly recommend this unit. The camera does not always pick up the flash, which is actually quite bright but short lived.

Hi xrad, great JP build/ conversion. I had posted a thread under general discussion asking if any one had fitted one of these recoil devices, as I wanted to fit one to my Tiger. The video shows it does a fine job.

Cheers

Hi xrad, have you fitted your modellbau recoil unit yet,if so did it work.
I've just posted a question on this unit to find out if it elliminates the
tank recoil and if it also elliminates the premature barrel recoil.

see the youtube video posted above.

the delay in the recoil is a function of the recoil mechanism gearing, which is opposite of what the 88 recoil should be. Go to rccommand website and there are instruction on how to modify the recoil unit.

My JP was originally a bb version, which of course had no original recoil. lots of mods to get to look good firing. read the thread above for tips.

cheers.
