Next I taped everything before priming it all.

Priming.
I started with 2 layers of plastic primer, next a couple of layers red-brown primer.
Both spraycans I got from an auto repair shop.

Here is my effort from a couple of years ago. I still have another earlier Stug to build. I really like these vehicles and i might have a go at making the shroud to go in between the barrel and hull like you've done.

The Machine gun is held in place with a magnet. In reality the Magnet isn't strong enough and the Gun spins round and drops off occassionally.

The Saukopf-Mantlet did fell on the ground last Summer, while I was making the gun fit into it.
So the lower left corner broke off.
Right now the milliput is drying. I hope I can sandpaper it tomorrow so it can be primed too.
Some pics with the gun/mantlet just sitting loose in the superstructure, just to get an idea of the overall look
