Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
Just waiting for the servo's, usual Ebay trick, says based in UK but I suspect they are being posted from China...Once I have the recoil and traverse are installed I can attach the fuel tanks and complete the weathering...tum-te-tum....
I am impressed with how smoothly the KV1 lower runs, it's blooming heavy but the gearboxes are a great match and glides around effortlessly. The IR is all installed, the sensors are in the crate on the back as there was no other way of mounting them so that they didn't stick out like a sore thumb, and it was a bonus having a wide barrel that allowed me to get the flash/emitter led's in there. I will hunt around for an STL file of a Russian machine gun and see if I can mount one on the roof mounted ring. It actually had two, one anti aircraft, and one close support, so either will do.

Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
I am calling this completed now. Everything works apart from the traverse, I need to get a decent servo for that, but it will pop straight in. I'll post a video when I get to the next tank meet.
I am quite pleased with the way it turned out, and as far as I know there isn't another one on the planet.

An amazing and unique build Rob, great work, I suspect that very few people understand the huge amount of design and prototyping work that has gone into this build and think you just press the print button and away it goes!

Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
I think this one was interesting to do as I went down the route of designing complete parts with all mouldings attached, it cut down the number of parts, and making them fit together considerably, and is definitely the way I will do future models. It makes things a doddle to do. It means longer print times, but less filament, and stronger parts. As to what I do next is anyone's guess. I would love to do a Panzer IV bridgelayer, or another Kodiak or Bueffel AEV, but fully working.

It looks interesting. Big applause for the topic selection and implementation. In some places you could try harder to remove traces of "layers" created in the 3D printing process. A great model

Re: Object 704 ?????? 704
The small hatches still show the layers, unfortunately I have run out of filler so until I can get some more they can't be fixed. The camera and the lighting make them look worse than they are, in reality the layer lines are barely visible. My usual trick is to use a thick coat of Vallejo lacquer as a levelling liquid but of course, it doesn't work so well on sloped surfaces, tends to run downwards due to gravity.
