Never saw that picture or armor before. Not sure the Russian had an airburst artillery round so I'll guess it was for air/ground attack protection.

I also assume that Mr Ecam, I will make a cardboard template & see how it might look.

Decided to add a vending machine on the rear plate !
A rack full of cans
Using left over engine vent mesh sprue solder pasted together. Once the jerry cans are painted & stuck in, the rack will be quite robust.
There are quite a lot of pics with this type of jerry can storage on rear plates of Pz IV's although they are normally dated later in the war.
This vehicle being in the retreat from Kursk makes it plausible to have a rack of precious fuel on its rear too.
Simple but adds interest.

Having most of the tools molded into the mudguards is going to be a B-arch to paint. I've done it once on a P4 & didn't like it then, now I have another one on my books !
The Taigen parts sprue has a jack, jack clamps, spare track links, track adjuster spanners, gun cleaning rods, aerial, and the fire extinguisher to place into pre arranged spots on the model so at least they can be accorded some degree of focused & relatively easy painting.
The rest are going to be a royal PITA
Still, that's the tank-life I've chosen & sniveling about it wont change it

That primer is going to give the
dunkelgelb a nice warmth.
Memories of trying to X-acto undercut around the tools on my PZIII to try and give them some separation depth with a dark wash. Kinda worked, kinda didn't
Nice petrol dispenser, gives it some swagger where it counts!
Mike.

I got round the embedded tools on One of my few Taigen PZ4 bodies by giving it a winter finish that allowed for snow to build up around the fittings. Easily done with a little green putty and white paint.

Achtung! There are two ideas here to help compensate for the relief-cast pioneer tools on some of the Taigen tanks. So far, I have resorted to patient painting with arcylics (so the "oops!" can be wiped away if caught in time). But I am making a mental note (hopeless with my memory) of what ColemanCollector and jarndice have done.

Having done a Pz IV a long time ago the tools are a source of frustration but not a mystery.
I have already scribed a bit of relief under them with a blade , but I tempered my enthusiasm by remembering that this one has full side skirts that hides multitude of evils!!
I’m sure the tools scenario will be overcome
