Tried the spade Placement today... I guess the round hatch is in the wrong place. It should be a few mm lower. Like this I cant place the spade in the right angle.

Yeah, I found that with mine.
Made the handle slightly shorter to prevent it protruding above the roof line, unless you look hard, its barely noticeable.
I have anti-aircraft armour on mine, so the spade position is not so exposed.

By the way, where is that real nice stowage box next to the rear hatch ?

Hey guys, I just read something very interesting in my Panther book. Back in 44/45 they designed recoilless guns, the KwK 43/3 8.8/L71 was one of them. They tried it, and it worked. Because the recoil didnt work, the tank bounced back mere 65mm. that would be around 4mm in 1/16. Maybe the IBU2 can do this. I will try it. At least I can start most of the paintjob etcetera, before Messing with the recoil.

To do something despite fiddly PE parts, I started Track weathering.

Left is the recent track as weathered above, but with a coad of Vallejo premium gloss varnish.

Right is the second step of Grime: yesterday I added Vallejo washes, Desert Dust (522, all over), added Patches of Vallejo European Dust (523, my preferred reddish Dust wash) wash and the odd spot of Vallejo Engine grime. Then I blotted in Wilder Pigments European Road Clay (GP-10) and Dark European Terrain (GP-09). Ditched in Vallejo Oiled Earth wash in the Center here and there (521). 24 h later i Mixed some watered down Desert Dust Wash either with one of the 2 Wilder Pgements and more or less washed the inside and than brushed the rests shallow over the outside of the tracks. When this is all dried, I will give it a rubdown where needed and fix it with several layers of dull Varnish.

Progress on my turreted Jagdpanther.

Painted RAL 6003 over the AK Black primer (one note: thined down Vallejo paint and flow improver doesnt take water after 10 hours drying, unless you wanna do scratch weathering  )

Today I clouded 6003 with 20% RAL 7028, well thinned down with Close do 30% thinner. It is subtle and I like it as a base coat. After that I will put on the Camo in 7028, adding Clouds of 7028+20% RAL 1001

The camo to come is the left in the Picture. Althogh I got the stencils for the right. They are both said to be 11th Pz. Div 1945 Bavaria. Interesting. Maybe one or both had a misconception of a black and White Picture? Anyways, it dosnt matter, as I dont have the Intention to build a particular N**i tank.

Im curious to see how it Looks.

Also finished the tracks with the 2 layers of clearcoat. I added another layer of Wilders European road Clay Pigment in thinned down Vallejo European Earth wash. In the end I added about 4 layersy of Pigments over the paint and oil wash. Wonder if it would have been any difference, had I justed layered down the Pigments in one go. In the end, I am really really happy with the track result.

Pictures were taken in natural evening light and overcast sky.

Cheers.

Very nice track effects Mr Soeren.
Ive done a similar thing to the tracks on my JT but used more pigment and diluted white glue to hold it on.
My vote is the camo on the left !

I am looking forward to see your tank finished. I might get inspired for my JP which I want to place somewhere earlier in the year, northern hemisphere. I thought white glue and more pigments or even dirt could interfere with track movement. This Panther should be weathered for dusty warm dry spring, after several days of rain.

I have done 3 tanks now with the white glue & pigments, and as long as you dilute the PVA sufficiently, and then allow to dry, but flex the tracks AS they dry, you should not have any problems.
