Aint no biggy mate , quite a laugh when I showed the family a little bit of the U.S. of A.
I guess now it could be said...................."Im committed"
Marked a datum line across the sponsons as a reference point.
Transferred a mark further back and squared it as the cut mark.
Got clean through and dead on the mark apart from the last 3mm on one side.
Removed the redundant hull joining tubes and now the clean up.
Once I've got clear material I can decide the best way to make the extension links.

Ohh yes, I have a feeling my ass is sticking out in a stiff gale mate, with a bunch of half-starved seagulls gathering !
I sat and looked, then thought "I'm over thinking it"
Then marked & cut so there was no more over thinking the start.
Now I have to overthink the completion.
This is the bit when Tamiya owners are having the "I told You So" moments
I have a long way to go, but the I told you so's ?...............for me, its built- not bought.

No mate, no U-turns available
And yes-I was sweating bullets bringing the saw onto it.
Im off to a chain hardware shop tomorrow. (Bunnings for the locals) to size up aluminium (alloominum for you nickle & dime'rs)angle to make the joiners.
I hope to get just the right section to make the best joint on the sponsons, and the rest I can fill with plastic strip and putty.
Getting the joint strong, and the alignment right with the gears will be crucial.
Am considering rivets to secure the fixed end of the angle with bolts for the back end.
Not 100% on this, should know more after tomorrows pilgrimage to Bunnings.
