Nup, more like Jack-The-Ripper
They are an annoying but rewarding job in all honesty.
Not sure they really add to the finished product, but I will see soon enough.

Ah I inderstand now - the DAK ones were the early gun type and later ones upgraded to L/48 type?

Keeping an eye in this for my build when I start.

The first of the long barrels were L43's
The F2 morphed into the G and had the same gun.
The better brake was retrofitted to F2 machines when possible.
I guess at the same time the armour upgrade took place.
Strictly speaking, the Malta vehicles should have the ball brake but I just hate them !

Heres a good outline of the turret/gun upgrades.

The PzIV F1 was a short gunned-uparmoured 'E', that became the F2 when the L43 gun was fitted, that became the 'G' when the armour was upgraded, that became the 'H' when the L48 gun was mounted................and on to the 'J' with hull simplification, along with all the other variants along the way.

I got the rest of the primer on all my bits today, I'm using XF-9 hull red which I dont normally use. As the top coat is going to be XF-59 Desert Yellow, which is very light, I went with the dark primer to hopefully calm down the brightness of the desert yellow.
It also is a very good pre-shade as I found out on my White Tiger.
Thin areas of the top coat should create shadow areas, but this is still to be shown.

My only doubt is that its not actually a genuine primer-its a paint. The automotive primer I normally use is a real hard core self etching primer and it really burns into the material its applied to.
Once I bung on the Desert Yellow, I hope the lot stays put.
I might do a hairspray over the dark Hull Red and top coat it from there with a view to chipping areas off on the usual spots to resemble an Africa Korps machine, now in Russia with a bit on its plate

click on Tracked vehicles then scale 1.16 then PZ111, Its ok they are like the cupola, common to both the PZ111 and the PZ4.
The picture is labelled Antenna holder but it is actually the complete antenna that fits into the side of the body below the Turret.
It is priced at Euro 11.50 and post to Australia is Euro 7.90 in AUD that is $30.40 Approximately.

Cheers Mate, I've seen those and a load of other goodies in there as well.
I have used the standard plastic base but drilled the top out to accept a section of aerial that would normally be used to receive signal on an RX18 set.
As I've changed to 2.4G this can be donated & made to resemble a raised aerial.
As I'm not needing effective rotation to both sides(not a dedicated battler) this will be fine.
I made the swivel on my Pz III munitionschlepper work, but it doesn't really need it !

Many of the v.b.66 machines had the wooden trough for the aerial removed & several jerry cans positioned in place.
No idea how/if this might have affected the radio comms, but I assume by function that it must have been ok.
Some vehicles had the trough removed, jerry cans secured and a square unditching beam attached along the right side guard.

Looks good in that colour, nice base.

Going to start mine soon so will lookout for a decent red oxide primer.

Thanks Mr Lav. You can see how the same colour differs from the hull to the running gear.
The hull has had a Mr Surfacer 500 , then a light cover of the hull red, then another light hull red.
The running gear had no base coat, a clean, and hull red.
The contrast from Tamiya dark yellow - XF60 to the desert yellow XF59 is significant.
Ive done brush test patches on scrap & I really am confident that the much darker hull red will calm down the bright desert yellow.
Soon see huh !

I still might do a matt black shade over the deeper areas to perhaps shadow them even further, more testing to do yet.
