Cutting the wall have been on my mind as well, but I think the integrity of the hull would suffer, if I remove it...

And I think Tamiya is out of the question
Here you go Arnie....I would imagine a similar image in your mind ;)
Spoiler: show
Image
The area in black are the proposed slots or dovetailing....the height would be determinant on you ...as you will probably have to measure the mech for proper clearances
The area in pink are for block you should make so you can have something to hold the gun locking plate illustrated in the area in blue....The block would also depend on where you finally decide to have your pivot point...the blocks should also help in reinforcing the hull ;)
The locking plate for the back of the mech pivot I would make out of metal...aluminum steel or brass whatever you might have available ...two bends...one to cover the dovetail..the other to provide a screw down point

It's kind of rough...it will definitely need refinement on your part :D
Hope it helps a little

Good Luck Arnie

Thanks Alpha. I think I can see what you mean and will try and make this work :)

For the gunshield, the shield itself, already have to places to mount the MG. Top or midlle, so the two square tabs are really not necesary...unless they are meant to be a way of having a removable MG...that could be it actually.

Anyways. Played around a little more with the Night sights :)
The commanders sigt, actually fits perfectly with the small hatch in it, so couldnt resist dry fitting it in there :P

Apologies for the rough sketch Arnie....had to do it from memory as the area I do that kind of thing is not located near my computer...But the design is for the mounting of that recoil unit...the dovetailed area is for the pinion mounts on the barrel ...the pivot point to allow you to raise and lower the gun
Image

But if you asking about the junction from the recoil unit to the mantlet...........well...that part I didn't even consider lol :{
Image

Usually fitting the Mech comes first for me...once that is sorted then I worry about the other things ;) ....in this case though...from my point of view...your stock resin piece looks like it could easily be modified to fit the Taigen mount....as it looks like you have a "square peg" that needs to go into a "round hole" situation
what I would suggest is....to square off the side that corresponds with that extended portion of the Taigen unit ....then from the back of the stock pivot point...trace the Taigen and fabricate one that will fit on to the resin cast piece that you just sanded....it looks like you have some material to work with on the bottom to where you could ...once making the replacement extension...actually screw it into place :D
I can draw something up for that too if you need :haha:

ALPHA

PS. I noticed you might also have an issue with mounting the mantlet or gun shield...and securing it to the mech...what I did on my L70 (had a lot more "meat") was to drill holes in the back...then using brass rod ...make extensions leading back to the mech...where I made some "eyes" in the rod to screw to the mech

I'm not sure how much "meat" you have on yours...but that's one option...the other would be to pin it somewhere you can easily access just in case you have to service the unit....I can draw you up something for that too lol

Nah, I have been out on maneuvers the last three days, so couldnt do much.

Received my package from Forgebear today when I got home..or some of it. The package had a huge gap in the side and half of the contents was gone...including the only pice in there for the Stug...the side rail thingies...

Have contactet Dave about it...
