What kind of clear did you get? I've found that flat washes out the colors and you lose some of the depth of the colors. I've gone with semi-flat as it doesn't lose any of your work.

Semi gloss finish Terry here's a couple of pics of my first attempt at a wash not sure its worked.

Semi-gloss is fine too, anything thats kinda not too shiny and not too flat is your best bet, at least in my opinion. Especially with those bright vivid colors it would be a shame to lose them behind flat coats.

Your wash doesn't look bad, looks a bit thick in some spots on the first pic but thats ok it'll dry. For my KT I must have done a dozen washes before I got an effect I liked! Also remember a wash is to simulate the dirt and grime that would build up on the tank so don't forget that dirt and grime tend to get washed off a little in rain storms which will lead to streaking so on your next wash take the brush dip it in your wash color and make sure the brush isn't dripping with the wash so you may want to wipe the brush a couple times on the open edge of the paint jar to remove any excess. Then start at the top of the tank and brush downwards in the direction that water would run off the tank if it were caught in the rain, a few passes of the brush from top to bottom will give the effect of the crude being partially washed off by rain water.

Also don't forget a pin wash, its VERY time consuming but it makes the tank look more realistic by accenting the rivets and joints in the metal and any lines on the tank, adds a LOT of depth to the tank.

I REALLY like the colors you've chosen they really look good! Keep up the excellent work!

Decals hmm gonna have save my pennies and buy some so it will remain decal less for now

STENCILS! Paint everything no decals allowed! Make your own, get GOOD masking tape, put a piece on glass draw your pattern, cut out with xacto knife, lift tape stencil off glass and place on tank, smooth down real good, apply paint, peal off stencil and amaze yourself at the awesomeness of your mad skills and work.
