Im just back from a week long rugby tour up north. Its officially spring here, but temps are up in the high 20's low 30's (* C )
The "tank Elf" never visited to push along the project while I was away, so Im back into it tomorrow.
I had a few goodies waiting when I got home, notek light, crate, another set of winterketten for hull mounted spares, bits & bobs like that so can push on to completion.
Ive got next week off to use up some of the hoilidays I have accumulated so looking forward to a bit of tangible progress.
To be honest this one is not giving me that "loving Feeling" so to speak...............I guess partially due to the looming hulk of the King Tiger sitting on its box next to the StuG III which is next in line.
I got a Panther G as well in the goodies- surprised at that but found out Im not real smart at clearing watch carts before actually buying stuff
Never mind, I have some hardware for it already in Germany with a client that is due here soon that will hand carry it.
THAT will get my ass moving to process the line up.................things are getting behind already

I know the feeling Herman... I have at least five projects lined up ... and I feel like jumping on any or all of them..it's hard when the tanks start piling up lol
But hey... I know I haven't done the task that had promised to to yet... I'll get cracking on that ASAP

Got the hull done as far as it needed to be off the lower and test fitted the spare Winterketten.
Slight damage on the guards etc, joined it back togather ready for the last hull details. Im going to add a stowage frame on the rear deck, plus I still have to do the canvas cover over the turret hole.

Hermann,
The work is coming along nicely! The ketten add a realistic touch along with the brass and detailing you have done so far. ;o)
regards,
Painless

Thanks Mr Painless, I will say this ones not returning the same emotional involvement as the other two, but perhaps Im just spoiled !
I was passing an automotive parts place today and I had an epiphany...............red oxide primer.
$12 bucks, ok, its a bigger spray pack, but I dont have to use thinners, clean an airbrush, set up the compressor etc etc.
Was not really ready for primer just yet, but impatience got the better of me & outside he went.
I was doing half chickens on the BBQ with mine carefully basted with wing sauce from one of my U.S. trips kept VERY separate from the rest of the mobs, and the primer went on..................
It sure does pong, but this is really the shiznik when it comes to getting the correct effect.
Lucky for me it was not as hot as the Sun outside like its going to be soon so this stuff can be done outside. No way I can pull off using this stuff in the house..............I would have a better chance of hiding a hooker in my toilet than 'fessing up to not painting in the house with this

Well its a bit premature, but some of the detailing went on. Used brass angle to form the obligatory rear stowage frame. i have a crate, jerry cans and bits of Tiger track to put in it.I will do "welds" on the frame using poly filler or suchlike and leave it pretty raw. Its uneven and cut roughly, I hope similar to what may have been at the time.
I made up a spare track paint brew & covered the spare Winterketten ready to secure. These will be further weathered after paint.

Not always premature, sometimes it's just exciting finally getting some detailed parts on. Looking ace Herman!
