Good Morning, Alpha,
I intend to brush them with steel to give them a slightly worn appearance. (very slightly since this tank was only a few months old when it was shot out from under the good Sergeant) That will make them stand out more but the upper hull will conceal them again for the most part when it is installed.
warm regards,
Painless

Alpha,
Aye, This is supposed to be a minor redo of the tank. Already, I'm doing work that was unanticipated but will give it a much better appearance when complete. Not everything I do will be built to the same level as Maxene. It could be the lazies but I prefer to look at it as bringing my vision of the tank to (scale) reality. They do look like pitchforks. *chuckles* I had not thought of them as such.
regards,
Painless

Yours look fine Painless.... they must have looked like mine did before I cut the extensions off :haha: ...I was tempted to use some Tamiya air boxes... but those don't have any at all 8O ...mine was definitely the lazies... the thought of heating up the iron... soldering the globs that would eventually get filed down just seemed like too much work for a do over ;) ...but you know ... as I did all the lift rings and handles last night ...it did seem logical to do them.... drank some water... came to my senses..so they remain the same :haha:

;)

Alpha my Friend, there is a lot to be said for coming to your senses. I did the same thing tonight, deciding _not_ to possibly fry my gifted 2.4GHz board by trying to fit a HL smoker to it. There was only one empty 2 pin port left on the board and I wasn't sure if it was power or control since the heretofore unseen Mato Sherman smoker apparently only has one 2 pin plug on it. The HL smoker needs the Power and the On\Off 2 pin ports. Unless someone here has done it and knows a sure fire method to connect it to the Mato 2.4GHz board, I'll be saving that proportional smoker for the Pershing redo. Otherwise, the night went well. I got the electrics switched over and everything mounted solidly in the lower hull. I have the On\Off for the tank left loose to be mounted under one of the hull hatches. The same will be done with the new sound pot. I put the tracks back on and noted that I will have to remove the extra link I added. Way too much slack. The new tracks come with an extra link in them already over the older versions. Pictures:

Tonight saw some things done and checked off of the build list. To begin with, I removed a link from each track and corrected the excess slack I had noted the night before. After that I used a small section of shrink-to-fit tubing and got a nice fit for the Tamiya .50 cal in the Mato loader's hatch pintle mount. After that, I drilled the idler wrench mount and made a small handle for it (as I had threatened to do earlier on) Lastly, I tackled the installation of the sound pot from Immortal Hobbies. Pictures:

Your re-installation of the sound control through the RO's hatch is very classy! I'm surprised that there was room above the motors for it all to fit there. Nice work!!

Good Morning, Sassgrunt,
I considered that as well, sir. You can see that in the next to last photo of the completed install, I have shortened up the rubber 'legs' by a 1/4 inch. There was plenty of clearance between the bottom of the pot and the gearbox but a little extra never hurts. ;o) The On\Off switch for the tank will go over in the Driver's hatch. The insert is deep enough so that no modification should be required there. Thank you very much! for the encouragement.
warm regards,
Painless

Good Job on the electicals Painless...You going to cut a slot in that volume control? don't see how you can fit your fingers in that hatch to adjust the volume 8O
