HL Truck Mods

Heng Long/WPL are now manufacturing 1/16 scale RC trucks, so it seemed sensible to create a forum area dedicated to the amazing things that members are doing with them. Post your builds, mods, and tips here.

Ok you got me on slide rule Haha!

Hey you draughtsman out there. Don't forget French curves. But CAD makes my job very easy and even though I work daily as an Engineer, you don't actually need to know how to count as everything is automatic and too easy!

You'd be amazed how many other talents have been lost because of modern technology. Just one example is setting X travel on an engine lathe. Now-a-days if the digital readout goes on the fritz most lathe hands are lost, but a few of us still know how to break out the Joe blocks and do it the old fashioned way. @)

Aww, Will, why'd ya have to burst my bubble like that? I guess you didn't know that over here us machinists get together every full moon and sacrifice an engineer (the bane of our existence) to keep the Lathe Gods appeased. @) @) :/ :haha: 8)

Got some accessories to add to my GAZ Fire Truck build.

Fitted different size extinguisher both sides and then shaped a holder for the spade and then made little hoops to hold the spade in place tightly.
Yes i need to touchup the paint a little better and smooth it off.

more accessories to come along with a working water pump and hose system. Need to make some small tools aswell and tool boxes to fit in the back.
Making a small metal(hopefully if i can find good scale metal) for a ladder system.

But i won't be keeping it and i will be selling this one, it is more just to see what can be done and add to the Portfolio of projects

I started work on my HL Truck. I have a 180 motor, some more Bruder parts, and a GAZ in the mail.

For testing, I took the hitch off of the Bruder Mack I have and put it in the HL truck. It's just a temp mockup until the GAZ arrives. I plan on converting to a 6x6.

I tried pulling a couple of my lighter tanks around. It did pretty good with the HL Pershing wreck on the hardwood. It didn't like the carpet much.

It handled the 1/18 PZ-IV much better. There wasn't much difference between the carpet and hardwood.

Hopefully a second axle, and the bigger motor will help it's pulling power.

Hey, I got an idea...

Tanks: HL M26 Pershing, HL M1A2 Abrams, Taigen M4 76, HL M45 Pershing, 1/18 PZ IV, VS Abrams, [coming soon]
