An amateur question...........why is there an absence of visible welds.?
I assume the overlay of ceramic armour and the fact that a welded joint may be a weak spot ?

They will just reactivate me!

They are many welds but so many were in the wrong place or the molding just too big. So I elected to remove they are and make my own.

A few picks of the work on the bustle so far.

This is the bustle from the Trumpeter M1A1 kit. It was too wide some I had to cut it down.


These are the bustle hangers again from the Trumpeter kit. I did a little carving to make them more accurate.
The one one the left is the stock kit parts my handy work on the right.

Unfair that Trumpeter charges customers for their "not so accurate" details on their Abrams. Made me wonder the cost of the item is it worth paying for.

You could be their Quality Control inspector. I'm sure you would fired most of them already by now

Having all three large scale Abrams to judge the HL meets the needs for which it was designed. The Trumpeter has a number of issues and the Tamiya kit has a few of it's own.
I will be using the Tamiya kit as the basis for an M1A2 SEP V2 and Trumpeter parts again for some details as well as the Engine and Cooling Exhaust. It is far more representative than the Tamiya part.

I retired from Gulfstream Aerospace as Quality Manager on the G450/G550 program.
