Defo need get some servos on it

I want to make sure the recoil works fast, what sort of controller should I get for it?
It needs to have sound as I want a base unit built for it.

Also want to have elevation and rotation servos also

So far as the recoil is concerned, it strikes me it needs to be fast back and slow return. Would it be feasible to hold the barrel forward against a spring with a cam? Rotating the cam forward would release the barrel. Continuing to rotate, it would then pick up the barrel and move it forwad to its original position.

I like the cam idea. Probably the best way to get the correct effect.
Will, how about a base to look like a mound with most of the electronics hidden within?!

Edit: you could have a sprung loaded lever against a cam in the mound attached to an elevation unit. You'd only need a stiff wire poking up for elevation, as well as the recoil lever, and they could be detachable. And that whole contraption could be mounted on a rotating platform that had another gun connection for rotation.

That WW1 18 pounder is a thing of beauty, I bought one as a gift for George at our tank club to tow behind his traction engine, he is well chuffed with it

That 18 pounder looks a little too small for that traction engine, you should take a look at scaling up the 7.2" BL that ICM sells in 1/35

The 18pdr the last couple of nights took a little update to a pneumaticized version based on some help from some guys in Canada who have one in their museum
Unfortunately dimensions are not exact, but i have tried to capture the essence of the shape of parts from the picture and video they have posted.
Alot of WW1 artillery pieces rather than scrapped were re-worked for training or home guard or retro fit with upgrades like pneumatic tyres so they could be towed behind vehicles rather than horse drawn

Whilst i was at it, i also have made the breech open and close so a shell could be loaded.
Changed the design of the recoil mechanism, changed the chassis for where the brake and axle locates onto, the draw bar is different.
The lower shield is removed and the top shield has small changes to it like a viewing hatch aswell as the obvious wheel & tyres

I may do something to the German 76mm aswell as a hurried retro fit WW1 to WW2 piece

Printing parts , whats the best raw material and setup for a smooth finish . Can you have anything between fragile with corrugations up to very strong with a silky smooth finish? This is for small parts , not interested in anything that needs cleaned up or fragile.
