So, anyone else with the RC2HL experience this problem?

It seems that the " brown out " effect is typical of the 2.4 GHZ systems ...
According to that thread (
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11204147/tm.htm) ; the DBC is not immune to that as well...

Gun sound is triggered when a physical connection is made between the two 'gun fire' pins. If you have older style Heng Long tanks with RX18 V6 and earlier boards you need to be aware of this.
Kevin G, I think I am encountering this issue when I try to swap out the RX-18 board and replaced it with the new Taigen 2.4Ghz board. The gun fires and recoil, no sound and no track recoil. When I plug the RX-18 back in everything works as it should. The tank I used is a stock HL IR tank with the HL recoil. I tried it on a modified IR (from an Airsoft) tank as well using the HL recoil and I am having the same problem. Do you know how to get around this ?
I am somewhat surprised that the Taigen is NOT "plug and play" when you replaced the RX-18 with it.......
P.S. All my Asiatam recoil tank works with the Taigen with no change.
Mike.

Looking at the "instruction" manual it does seem that there is a procedure to bind the radio with the MFU It is in "Chinglish" so some interpolation is required. But the bottom line this seems to answer the question of what happens if you need to replace one or the other.
All in all after testing this system my recommendation is unless you are upgrading an older HL tank, ie. prior to the RX-18, save your money or go to a better radio system and a RC2HL adapter. Having said that I'm going to pull the Tiger I have listed on Ebay.

I have two radio with 8 tanks and I switch it between tanks all the time.
- Switch on machine gun switch
- Turn on Radio
- Turn on tank, wait 2 seconds for binding
- Switch off machine gun switch
At this point, you just need to start the tank on the radio and off you go. In the instruction it says 5 min to bind which scared me but it is only about 2 seconds in reality.
