Tiger Ebbey .....
Re: Tiger Ebbey .....
Very interesting build, seems you have put alot of work in to this project and I for one am very pleased that you have taken the time to detail each stage. Still curious about the paintwork? But waiting is part of the fun, seeing it finished is as well.

Thanks Sax, detailed builds are the most fun to read for sure ......moving on ....
Well here we are Autumn's upon us and I still have not finnished Ebbey ........
But .....other time consuming stuff is drawing to a close so ......time for an update ....
It was great to have Ebbey at Swindon and Cricklade, rushing her out in her best coat of base colour, couple of things to sort out ...
1) Gearbox reductions a bit tight ......actually as tight as a penquins chuff..........Fixed after much prising, disassembly and parting of Zimm. Had to hammer the boxes out in the end - just shows how tough the old girl is ....
2) Tank and controller working ...ish - Now sorted thanks to Paul( Septon) - EBBEY MOVES ---and now in the intended direction .
3) Speaker thrown in back after B********g up the tammy box - Now done ...
Anyway time for some pics of the base coat and a bit of tweaking.....

The above picture shows a bit of shadowing just to break up the ' Chicken Korma' uniform finnish from the Tammy spraycans....

Looks better in the flesh ....thats the tank - not the veiwer and managed to knock off Ebbey's front light during the gearbox tweaking ............rats .....

Same for the wheels...........and .......I know !
INSIDE

On/ off swith tucked into Ebbey's inner alloy reinforcing ....

Speaker in .....

And out .....just rests in the back with no movement at all......

The speaker was assembled with silicone bathroom sealant ........protects against mould and bacteria as well !!

I must give a special thanks to Alan - Tankman who kindly lent me his spray guns and ......his brand new compressor .............its probably stopped smoking by now ....
Next step ..silly putty and brown paint .....gulp !!

Re: Tiger Ebbey .....
CAMOFLAGE !!

This is just the first coat of camoflage for Ebbey ...no washes or weathering just yet.....

I was intending to use a more red brown and thinner green stripes to edge the brown but I felt it just didnt work for me - or the tank ..

I think wanted Ebbey to look 'Heavy ' even in her colours. The lighter brown and green edging made her look like a toy ....so much so I did not even bother to photograph the end result at all - so that says a lot !!

This scheme - applied off the cuff seems to be much better - at least to me ...

I refixed Ebbey's front light by drilling a hole through the mounting point and the bottom of the light.
A peice of alloy rod was cut to size, fitted with fuse wire and then pushed into the holes, a dab of superglue and hey presto !!

A bit of wear and tear was added in a few places ....

The turret ring is actually metal - its a strip of alloy bent around the lid of a bottle of bleach ...so when its scrattched it shows silver underneath ...

I was going for the hand painted numbers look - stick plenty of mud on them and stand 20ft back and they should be fine ...Ahem ..

Hi Major. Saw you post a pic of your finished Tiger on another thread. How come we never got to see the full walk-around here? Now my own tank is getting nearer to the paint stage I could use some inspiration...

Rear Exhausts .....
Okay - not exactly a subject to set your world on fire but .....its just a mini update ....

Painted up the rear exhausts, added a bit of weathering and soot, just to show she is a working gal....

Might need to get those sparkplugs changed as she looks to be running a little rich

Now you see them .......

Now you don't .......

Starting to look nice and worn now .....

Rough placement of the loaders periscope .....

And a not too dirty muzzle brake .......

More to come.......

Re: Tiger Ebbey .....
Okay folks could have sworn I had done this so off we go .....
Here are a few Pictures of Ebbey wearing her final camo scheme and some weathering to tie it all together ...

A little bit of detail as well .....

Wooden blocks fitted in place now -

Extra trank links to bolster up the front glacis plate, including a Panzer IV track link behind the broken front light.....

Andy,
That beast of yours is outstanding, love the detail and paint. Well done sir, I'll be using your build as an inspiration.

Thanks Derek !!
I will update this build thread to its ongoing conclusion ......
She runs and works very well now, I must take some moving footage as well just to prove she actually runs
