Hi again chaps
Been doing a lot of movies lately with the 1/6 Stuart ("Margret II") - now kitted out with a working Armorpax tow hitch & shiny new M1A1 75 mm pack howitzer to tow around (thanks ebay

) and the 1/8 Tiger ("Sadie") - live firing vids with the 88 mm pyro gun
Anyhoo - back to my original point (yes, there is one) - concerning the 88 mm pyro gun on my Tiger - which uses a small cardboard casing to hold the explosive charge in, which I naturally assumed just went up in a litte cloud of smoke along with the detonated explosive charge...WRONG...
Cue my Dad on camera, some 15 yrds away from the muzzle, then cue accidental (premature - must be getting to that age) firing on my part, followed by surprised outburst of OAP profanity

from my Dad as the cardboard casing goes whistling over our heads (in camera shot, really did look like an 88 mm shell in flight), only to land some 20 yrds away from the Tiger tank...
Have now increased safety zone to some 25 yrds when live firing the 88 mm pyro gun

Hi panzerschreck,
I've been thinking about possibly going for a Mark-1 1/8 Tiger myself. Just a quick question, how do you load the pyro charge into the gun breech, do you have to take the turret off ?
Cheers, Ian

Hi there
Good choice, you won`t regret it
So far Sadie has been totally reliable and you really are not going to get a better level of service or customer care than Mark-1-tanks
Now the pyro

just pop the turret off (is spring loaded, just push back and lift off) and then feed the pyro wire down the 88 mm barrel and plug the wires into the circuit box mounted in the turret - a 2 minute job when you get used to doing it

and your good to go
One important thing to remember though - there will be a brass inner tube fitted inside the 88 mm barrel, you must make sure the pyro charge is seated in this, just inside the muzzle brake (which is heavy cast aluminium).
Hope this helps

Hi Steen
Glad you like them
I have done a few more vids taken in some local woodland - of the Stuart towing howitzer plus Bastogne diorama (x2) setting, Stuart & Tiger driving through woods & another live firing with the Tiger, all taken on Dads new camera - sound quality is great, as were the lighting conditions on the day - the woodland scenes in particular look very "Band of Brothers"
All should look great on youtube with your magic touches added in to the mix
Looking forwards to seeing our work - its good to stay connected - what a great hobby this is mate

Hi Chaps
Had Sadie for a few months now, and have only just discovered that lurking amongst the bundles of wires was an LED

, a nice big shiney red one at that
Anyhoo, to cut a long story short, Sadie now has said LED installed in the coaxial MG station, which looks and sounds a treat even in bright sunlight
This also means I can fire something within the confines of model tent/hall and not take out any passing spectators (seems to upset people it does

)
Anyhoo chaps, till next time, keep `em high and dry
