Bikers or Petrolheads?
Re: Bikers or Petrolheads?
will do cheers mate
and good luck with your turbo, what you doing to it if you don't mind me asking ?

Re: Bikers or Petrolheads?
Well, the valves became tight causing the turbo to such oil into the compressor side.I was pissed. 750.00 worth of head porting and polishing, and installing stainless valves. Well they corrected it after i disassembled the motor, the valve clearence is controled by small shims, being over head cam the lobe is directly above the valves, getting the clearence correct is a matter of math and asumption of heat expansion. They got it wrong. couple of hundred dollars in gaskets that and one I had made, which they did wrong as well.
Since I had to go through this I decided to repaint some of the parts,it is after all 27 years old. And that lead to me deciding on a polished swing arm, replacing the shock bushings and the bearings in the UNI-TRAK system. As this engine can create up to 200+ horsepower the rear end can be difficult to control, and hazing the rear tire at 75mph will give you control problems if the shock has any play,I also because of this and my age I reduced the rear sprocket by 8 teeth to calm down the spinning. Well here are a few pictures,I intend to complete it over this weekend. This month the bike is 27,and I have been married for 20 years this month.
Mainly for appearance I made sure of the hardware replacing many detail bolts, the exhaust was bead blasted and repainted, then required alot of work to get an even finish,as the picture details the SPIDER pipe is difficult to paint.

My 2003 Kawasaki Mean Streak 1500, Vance and Hines equipped, saddleman seats and back rest, the Avon Venom R compound Tires and sport bike designed suspension make this a sleeper, and a few average riders have found out this is no V-twin slug but a fast bike in the right hands, especially in the twisted circle. That is also why I chose this bike and unfortunately I have placed it on e-bay.The economic times and my health, along with the need to pay the out of pocket cost of twins in college makes only one bike practical, also my 1987 Kawasaki Ninja 750R will be next on the block for sale.

blimy for 27 years old that turbo is looking fantastic!

Re: Bikers or Petrolheads?
Thanks Matt,Been a difficult thing as it sat in storage for 12years,then in 03 I restored it and this year have finished with other upgrades like the engine work and the rear suspension, one bad thing about this bike is the tire width, being designed for a 150 where most modern bikes run170-180 coming out of the corners it has the bad habit of spinning the rear tire. It was a learning curve when it was new to understand how to ride this machine,I have only lost it one time sliding through he grass infield at an endurance race. Sliding more with the bike on me than the other way around.

Seems I'm in good company! Had bikes since the age of 16! now the numbers are the other way round! lol! I've worked on them for a job, raced them, Now i refurbish them for a hobby!
Have 1987 Honda CBR 400 RR, Baby blade, just finished building, 2005 Suzuki Boulavard 800 V twin, been finished about a year. 2002 Honda Silver wing 600 Superscoot, ( was nearly killed on it 2010) last a Kawasaki W800 I, brand new! ( bought it with the compensation money from the accident)
Thats where my user name came from, I built two Tritons years ago.
