Yes, I'm in the US. You never know though, I might catch a military flight over the pond some day. If I do, I'll certainly try to bring it with me. This forum has been a great help to me. Oh yeah, I have acquired some carbon tube that I have cut into 3/16 sections, split in half and CA'd to some plastic track. I don't think it will last very long either, but it does look pretty good.
More testing! More testing! Buha Ha Ha Ha Haaaaaa. The mad builder is alive and well!
Hi Green Amphibian ,
Yer I thought about doing that to . Ive made on idler like yours but wider to suit the Mato Sherman tracks Im using . Its still exprerimental at the mo but seems to work . Great idea of yours mate.
Ive used Green Amphibians track adjuster idea for my LVT build . Its just made a little wider to allow a diferent idler wheel to suit the Mato Sherman tracks . The idler wheel is just a quick knock up to test the idea . Once Im happy it will hold Im going to make a dummy piece to sit in front of it to resemble the LVT adjusters cast frame . Again great idea Green Amphibian
Hi Green Amphibian , Thanks . I do need to change those screws so there the same . I keep wondering about the rust issue , all those pins between the tracks and the other none brass parts . I did start waterproofing a HL Tiger and some one mentioned spraying them with some sort of oil prior to use and again after drying . Mind you I dont want to have a polution trail leading behind the LVT Thanks tho glad you liked the different approach . I had to fit an idler that would suit the Mato Sherman tracks . Im a bit worried now with the depth of the individual track links as there getting closer to the lower hull . Im leaving the bottom save finishing the adjusters untill I can sort what wheels Im using .
Heres a picture of Green Amphibians track adjuster idea , again Ive altered it a bit more to make it easyer for me to fit to my LVT build .
Heres a test attempt at fitting the scoops , I think it will be ok now Nick , Im fitting them on the same way as the moulded shapes on the Mato tracks . Its a little cockeyed . The thin strip is put between each scoop.
Heres a side shot , tracks all the way round now , thanks Nick for the extra links mate
Andy, are you going to need more links once you fit your road wheels and suspension on it? I have determined that I have to use 102 links per side to make it all fit right. 51 of them will require the grousers. I still haven't gotten around to making my suspension, but will be using Nicks idea for it when I do. Your build is really looking great. The plastic gives a great metallic surface base to it. I will be fiber glassing my wood hull to keep the water where it belongs.
Hi Vonrundstedt , Thanks not for a while Im afraid , Ive got some more turret detail to do , finish the upper rear deck , sort suspension out , waterproof then it will be spraying time . Oh and got all those scoops to add to the tracks
