And then to manipulate the sticky-outy bits of the soft material to suit the damaged guard.
Was harder than it looks.
The torn section where the steel guard has been driven into the track on the real tank is pliable enough to be easily moved by the track in both directions on the modelled version so thats a win.
Little thing, but something.

Nah !! Cruel would be if I cut the thing right off !
Although looking thru loads of pics from the current/recent combat theatre these things don’t sustain the same damage as other machines in similar terrain.
Could be better trained operators, could be luck.
I’m held up waiting for parts now, and as it’s back to school time here, I may be waiting a while

It’s back to school after 7 weeks off & of course the cost of getting the stuff required means good ole Dad’o has to wait for anything he wants

Damage looks impressive and considering the materials you had to manipulate, it is! Looks like someone backed a building into the parked Merkava.

Thanks Mr Ecam, sometimes being rough is a harder option !
I have noticed the newer HL material is not as favourable for heat deformation as the older stuff.
Dare I say that it seems more like the older stuff Hooben stuff that the old HL stuff.
I might use the scrapped skirt plastic and do a Zimmerit test to see how it compares

Yes, the plastic is crap......
Almost Hooben...
I suffer the same way with the T-55, I glue it with dichloroethane and Tamiya, I even use Revell so that the plastic dissolves and sticks...
Before this I worked with the T-90 and Challenger, the plastic stuck much better there.

As the turret bustle rack is hollow underneath I decided to do a bit to fill the gap,
Brass scrap cut to form an internal frame that will suspend some mesh and members to create at least a resemblance of a bustle under the tarp.
I just don’t have the need to make a full blown brass replica bustle just do I can make a tarp over top of stowage !
Sometimes you just need to say “it’s enough” and be happy
Once its on I'm sure the effect will be good enough.

Early days, and I dont want to close an escape route, but I guess Im on the path to a brass turret bustle rack.
This one aspect will test both my will and skill I feel.
Short on the near enough brass material to carry on much further, and light on info to make a call on how to join the frame to the rear of the turret, but Im going to have a crack.
Why do I do it to myself !??
