I talked to an Iraqi tanker once. One of the most interesting conversations I’ve had. Some day will try to recount.

Ok. Dumbquestion time. Why remove the cupola to insert the periscope lens? It looks like it could be done with going to such extremes? I know you have a penchant for destruction, before building.

Its sealed with a bulkhead that doubles as a mount for the elevation unit. No access from below.
Only way to get them in is from the front and that would mean making them smaller than the gap they occupy & trying to retain them in the right spot is difficult.
Plus its a way of getting the MG mount facing front with the TC's hatch opening up behind him should a TC figure be put in later.

Thank you for the reply. Looks like something I may use on my winter build. I was going to try to install from the front.

Nothing really newsworthy but some progress.
Cupola base is in, now it can take a figure.
Also fitted & tested the barrel smoker.
Having the upper and lower screwed together but needing to be able to top up the barrel smoke heater, I made a new “ hole of adding” as HL would call it.
The hull has a plate that I drilled out & made a replacement for. Under that I made a short spigot and plate to take a bit of hose that’s the capillary to the heater.
Nothing fancy to hold the faux plate on, my Syrian T72 s one is just blue tacked in place & work fine.
Next mission is the turret reassembly and surface texturing.

Years ago, when the instructions read " connect black wire to earth" was one of my favorites.

“It puts the battery in the right hole, or pain may occur,” is one of my favorites from a Chinese made prop replica I have.
