Even though the large hatch M4A1 looked quite nice, I wasn't happy enough with it. I've tried to rebuild the hull from scratch, but the front end has a lot of complex shapes, which are difficult to replicate in Fusion.

So while I'm waiting for my Firefly to be printed, I wanted to try to build the small hatch M4A1. As this was one of the most common Shermans during the war, it only seems right to build one of these as well!

The small hatch cast hull is a bit less complex to build, and I managed to create something that I think looks very good :D still not finished, but I wanted to share this design here as well. I guess people are still reading, even though the forum seems a bit quiet, especially in this topic?

I also bought a used HL Tiger one (very very cheap, and it was with metal gearboxes and metal tracks! That was a nice suprise ;) ). I'm going to use the Tiger to measure all the Heng Long components, so that my designs can also be built with Heng Long electronics as these seem to be very popular.

And some renders; the round shapes on the hull seem to be very smooth. Very happy so far!

Besides doing the Firefly, I've also started work on the early M4A1 again. Preparing everything to be printed and assembled.
The entire bottom hull has been replaced by the design I used on the Firefly as that seems to work best.

Still no real progress, as I'm away from home (on holiday), but I still managed to do some work on all the different Shermans I'm designing.

After A LOT of time I wanted to share a sneak peak of a hugely revised/redesigned version of my very first design; the M4A1 76(W)
This will be released at one point as well, once the M4A4 design has been finalised.

Don't know if I should open a new topic on this, as this topic looks a bit all over the place, with both the small hatch and large hatch M4A1's

Well I spent many hours the last couple of days, adjusting the hull and building the rest like the turret from scratch. When designing the commander cupola, I was a bit suprised by the amount of details on such a small part! It turned out quite nice in the end.

Turret internals from the Firefly have been reused and much improved in this model. I think I'm going to redesign the gun mount system of the Firefly as well, as this is superior to the old method. Everything is screwed together now, so can be removed or replaced as required.

I also ordered a HL Sherman (without electronics), so that I can modify the cast hull to fit on the HL chassis.

Any comments or thoughts greatly appreciated!

Awesome work, I'm following it in detail.

have you tested the recoil design? I am trying to design one for my project and your design is inspiring me. ;)
