Looks amazing, Painless! yes, there's something about fresh snow that can be very appealing ( until it becomes an inconvenience). My dogs love playing in it, but as they're very hirsute, they come back into the house with white cannonballs on their feet.

I must get one of those, as the tracks have that indescribable gadget appeal. Your video also reminds me, that this year i simply must create an account with Youtube, and post some videos.

This was the state of snow here two days ago. Rain removed such of it yesterday, but heavy snow showers are expected this evening. I might try my truck out in that.
The first pic is from my lounge window, (and includes one of my Westies) and the second from the bottom of my garden, looking out over the Loch. The little stream there is going to have a scale tank bridge in future; but how distant that future will be, remains to be seen. The 'Lockdown' might advance the project, but it'll be a "Bridge too far' until then.

Och aye, hoots mon, an' it's ma favourite old rocker: 'Loch around the Clock'.
..and the first bit of land you see there, is actually an island. It's called the 'Isle of Ewe'. Unsurprisingly,
people come here from far and wide, just so they can send a postcard from it- especially on Valentine's day. tacky cards like this one:


Still it's not as bad as that notorious village in Austria, where tourists used to steal all the road signs pointing to it. I drove by it once, and stared in joyful disbelief...before taking lots of pics.
Now the town has been renamed 'Fugging'..

Despite the historic militant representation of Highlanders, Shaun, and the fact that the invading Highland Army got as far as Derby, before turning back (probably couldn't find any whisky there )
you'll find very little bias up here. Modern Highlanders follow an ancient Celtic tradition of hospitality, and probably wouldn't add adjectives like that to descriptions of the 'Sassenach' (Saxons).
It's a very different story doon in Glasgow, however, where phrases preceded by the 'eff' word are more liberally used even than in Dublin's "feckin' '' fair city. Having visited Dublin (gaelic for 'Black-pool', incidentally ), I can attest to that.
By the way, as a devout atheist, I wouldn't have been too keen to follow someone who wanted to reintroduce catholicism, knew nothing about Scotland, spoke no Gaelic (then the language to know in the Highlands), and who did a runner when the going got tough...

Most Whitsuntide holidays we would drive upto Sandy Bay,
Well not all the way, we would have to walk from Kinlochbirvie,
As you say a certain insularity was apparent when passing through Lanarkshire but into Perthshire then through to Inverness, (What a hidden treasure that city is ) we would be met with genuine warmth,
after Inverness the roads were almost empty apart from heavy trucks who would cheerfully give you the thumbs up and a wave,
The water was warm (Gulf Stream) and the beach which went on forever and has no peer this side of the Maldives was usually empty.
It also does not have a pier
A lasting memory was the almost permanent daylight.

Thanks, Shaun, yes most people I know think I'm lucky to have this location, and the unrelentingly lovely views. Thing is, I'm no Poulet de Printemps anymore, and I would need at least another two lifetimes to see, and enjoy, all there is up here.
Living in a Wilderness paradise has only a few drawbacks; but nothing that can't be overcome with a bit of effort. What's more, Inverness is only ninety minutes away, had has an airport, railways and much more to offer- including a good hospital. I should know, having had my ankle rebuilt there!
As you say, it's quite a gem.
Okay, well this thread has zilch to do with RC tanks, and progressively less to do with Christmas (unless we're going to be locked up until the next one )- but in these
Covid times, I think a little visual diversion is a good thing for us here- as well as some new builds. .
We now have the NorthCoast 500 (500 miles of jaw dropping scenery) to enchant visitors with- plagues permitting, that is. You should give it a go, Shaun, as the route passes through Kinlochbirvie- and drop in here if you do.
I'm so spoiled with what I have locally (and there's also more Covid security here), that I've not actually been that far up the West Coastal route. I like Lochinver, and Ullapool (where I shop sometimes), and have been up to John O'Groats via the east coast route; but must do the whole loop one day.
Do check this out, it has become very popular with tourists in recent years, and even passes via the castle, Skibo Castle in Sutherland, where Madonna got married (in itself, something to put me off ). Do give it a go, guys! One day, anyday now, you will be released (to misquote Dylan )

Trust me. There's whisky in Derby. We even have a distillery. Look up Shining Cliff. My barrel is safely ensconced there. The reason why they turned home at Derby is. It was dole day, so they had to get home.
