Lee, my Tiagen StuG, has the styrene Schurzen too.
I made the brakets out of brass, to be sure everything stays where it is, while riding outdoors.
I did use the styrene brackets as example to bend my brass stuff.
Think about it if you are using your StuG out in the open. Styrene stuff tends to break off quickly when you hit something.
If you do not drive outdoors, or even not drive the thing at all, the styrene setup will do.
Your call.
Ciao, Rob.

Thank you for the tip of the metal schurzen brackets Rob :D I think I will take your advice and make some from metal myself using the styrene one's as a guide

Cheers, Lee.

Been a while, but I did some work on my StuG again.
After attaching the metal Machine Gun Shield, I also ordered a couple of metal hatches to go on top of the gearboxes.
Well....what should I say about them......
To be honest, I would not recommend buying those!
But as always, you discover issues, when you already did some "damage" to the superstructure, in my case.
The hings are way too high to get the hatches in line with the deck above the gearboxes. By using the hinges delivered with the hatches, the hatches are laying on top of the deck instead of laying "inside" it.
The only solution to get these hatches propper fitted, would be a slice of poly glued underneath the deck, in which you attach the hinges.
In this way, the hinges sink into the deck, and the hatches might come in line with the deck.
Or...buy some brass hinges and cut the hatches out of 2mm poly.
I thought about this option after I found out the it looked not that good.
Anyway, I had some annoyance with these hatches from the start, one broke into 2 pieces while I wanted to pinch a little hole in them to prevent the drill "running" away.
The intention was to attach 2 grips on 2 hatches for opening them.
Here are some pics from my disaster

After that, I started with the zimmerit.
A modeller friend from Germany gave me this Atak set for free, he did not need it anymore.
The Atak kit is very nice to work with, you can cut it easily into the right shapes with a knife or small scissors.
