Way hey me lock down hearties

Ordered mine off Banggood as soon as I saw it, and it is now on route

Doubtless the rivet counters among you will find fault (some of you already have!!), but as one wise individual said, "I doubt my 5 year old will notice", and neither will I, or will the vast majority of the great unwashed who will only see a very cool R/C model zipping about at the various shows I do down here in Kernow (that`s Cornwall to you English/Anglo Saxon folk).

I have a GI Joe 155 mm Howitzer to tow behind mine, courtesy of Ebay (I can feel the rivet counters gearing up on that one already - "you can`t be towing that behind a jeep....!!), but in the words of another great prophet, "Do I look bovvered )....

At the end of the day, I am only in this hobby for FUN, and as they say, "if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it`s a duck...."

I have the 155, too, and was thinking about towing it. Is it this one?



I think I'll put a zip tie or two on the front supports, since I don't think they'll stay in place on their own and we don't want them floppin' about on us. The real Jeep might not have been able to tow the real 155, but the model shouldn't have any trouble. Damn, now I guess I'll have to try it out. See what ya started?

No point being here if I can`t cause the odd bit of sedition

And yes, that is exactly what I have . Mine is called "Kraut Krusher" and I have painted "Nuts!" on the 155 mm shell; if you know your WWII (American) military history you will appreciate my little joke

I did a test tow behind my HG HUMVEE and everything stayed put, over my lawn, so you might be O.K. without the zips.

Just a thought, but the stiffness off the suspension on these things can be altered by twisting that little collar that sits above the spring on the shocks, anybody tried that simple fix

If not, the lifting body design makes it as easy as hell to work on these shocks to put oil/stiffer springs in anyway, so hardly a deal breaker as far as I am concerned.

This is all that matters. Yes, my 5 year old thinks he is king of the hill with his new crawler. The D90 he drove before is now just a cast off loaner for his friends when they want to join us outdoors.

I have already cranked the collar on the shock all the way down to put maximum preload on the spring. That seemed to help quite a bit, but I still think I'll look into maybe stronger Springs or thicker oil for the shocks. And you're right that they're very easy to get at, the only pain is removing the wheels with all those tiny little socket head cap screws.

I have a radio set to go in the back (will be a command jeep); am also deciding whether to go for the .50 cal option when this is available, or make my own mount for a water cooled .30 cal M1919 - decisions, decisions....

A machine gun mount might be difficult because they have that fake wooden crate in the back of the Jeep. That's there to give clearance for the shock Towers on the 4-link, because they didn't use a leaf spring suspension like the real Jeep.

Re the MG mount, I've yet to see any clear photos of the optional .50cal but presume the mounting hole directly in front of the fake crate is for that purpose.
