OK, so now its time to do the wiring. The standard of work by some of you is really inspiring, but I am not the neatest worker. In an attempt to keep myself motivated, I decided to freshen up the interior with a coat of off-white.
As the hull will need all the stiffness it can get I am sticking with the body screws as a means of attaching the upper hull. That means I need a handy way to charge the battery, and I want to move the On/Off switch to somewhere that is out of sight, but more convenient. After doing some research I found a previous post by JRC with this wiring diagram. It seems so simple, but the original wiring of the switch by Heng Long was rather odd, and it had me doubting this was the way to go until I ran a multimeter over the final result to check it was correct. I guess Heng Long were just using what was handy.
I paid attention to the advice that came with the diagram: to use proper charging plugs. We don’t have Maplins (or Home Depot), our electronics chain is Jaycar, where I picked up an identical plug and socket to the Maplins items.
In went the battery, and all the wiring for the charging socket. Now I've got the battery wires in the centre, the charger socket and wires on the left side, and the lead to the MB on the right side.
They are now connected to the Heng Long On/Off switch and hidden in the underside of the left side storage bin. I salvaged the moulding for the Switch mount from the floor of the lower hull and glued it in so the switch could be located with the original screws.
With the storage bin in place, the switch is concealed but still handy.

thats a simple and real handy idea.
No piss-farting around removing the entire upper hull.
I suggest a 5000MAH battery though !

Any chance you could whip up a couple of those harnesses as kits mate ?

Thank you for the kind words, I'm not that clever, just soldering someone else's idea.

If you can get your ladyfriend that does labeling for controls and consoles to do a control panel for me, then its a deal!

Following along still and your work with the lower hull sponsons was cleanly done ( IMHO ) and resulted in a strong, custom fit for the upper. The concealed on \ off switch and charger for the battery is just icing on the cake. I am with Herman, get yourself a 5000Mah battery for this. I don't do LIPO so the stronger the standard battery, the better.

You are right about the battery - I've been concentrating on the other bits of.....
I had not run the Panther for long enough to be conscious of the stock battery limitations. It'll probably be next on my shopping list and if I get it from Hobby King I'll need to allow for that slow boat from China.

Speaking of which, my beaut 4.1 gearboxes and the commander for my Tiger project are now in my possession - thanks to Forgebear. I try to support my local suppliers, but it is good to know Dave is a reliable vendor.

Top work on the wiring harness Estnische, it's a very elegant solution. I like how you've concealed the switch like that, but where are you planning on hiding the charging port? I'm also curious about what the hose clamp on the right sponson is for.
