Thanks for the comment. I'm not sure on a scheme yet, I need to see more Bulge Tiger's first. Definitely a 3-tone scheme. Painting is a while off yet though, I need to get plenty more reference material for that.
Cheers,
Rik

Brilliant detail work.
Trouble is with detaling your tank is knowing when to stop!!

Thats very true Steve. Everytime I see a picture of a Tiger and notice a tiny detail that was missing from the Tamiya kit, I start thinking how can I add that to my tank. Then I realise it'll never be seen and is pointless to add, but add it anyway, lol.
I should be getting some parts next week, and may have a little surprise or two in store.
Cheers,
Rik

Here's one more little thing to show, a corrected recoil! All credit for this goes to Tailend Charlie. He came up with it and guided me through this, Thank you very much!

It makes the 88 look like it has bite, rather than the weak recoil attempt Tamiya came up with. This uses standard a Tamiya recoil unit. I'll post pics of the mod soon.
Tell me what you think guys.
Cheers,
Rik

I'm just dismantling the recoil unit now to get some pics up. Also when the epoxy dries I should have a fully functional, scratch built turret escape hatch to show as well.
Cheers,
Rik

As promised, here's the pictures of the recoil mod. Again all credit goes to Tailend Charlie (Richard) for this mod. He did all the engineering for it, I just copied him, lol. Thank you again Richard.
The first picture shows the alteration to the gear. Put the knob bit sticking straight up. Including the first tooth to the left ount 30 teeth, then mark after number 30. Then including the first tooth to the right count 22, then mark after that one. Grind flat all the teeth inbetween.
The second picture shows the anchor point for the spring. I used a bit of 0.3mm thick brass with a hole drilled in it, attached it to the butt end of the recoil mechanism with 5 minute epoxy resin. Its extremely solid.
The third picture shows where to attach the spring. I used a spring takem from my Tamiya KT's elevation arm.
Now this should work for any recoil unit like the Tigers. I think the KT, Panther and Jagdpanther all use a different unit, so different teeth would probably have to come off.
Hope this helps anyone who wants a better recoil.
More pictures later today!

Chers,
Rik

Here's the pictures of my escape hatch. Im not sure if im entirely happy with it though. There's a bit of sanding and filling needed doing to it, but the basic shape is finished. Let me know what you all think. I think once its touched up and painted i'll be happier with it.
Next is working on the turret bin, and starting the mass amount of photo-etch parts I have, lol.
Cheers,
Rik
