Ed, they both look good. I'm thinking the yellow looks so bright because it's on such a dark background. Besides a little weathering will knock that brightness right down!
Any other pics?

Much better Ed....have you tried the trick that Arnie used...it's cheaper and probably cleaner than using a weathering kit...all you do is get whatever color you like...the dilute it almost 9 to 1 and spray it on from about 8 inches away....Yes it's a wash... ...Hit it with a blow dryer ..also from a distance...and hopefully you will see the magic

Tried what you said alpha...not brilliant results so far

Not sure what effect you are looking for Ed.....from the photo...I can barely see any "wash" effect...have you tired to find the finest setting on your airbrush? You might try this on a lesser model first or even on paper
My junkie Chinese double action airbruse can go to just a tad bigger than a pencil line
so I can do this on 1/35 ...by chasing all the detail lines

On all the 1/35ths I've done....they all have this effect....it's done so fine...the camera doesn't quite pic it up ....seems it's a have to see it in real life kind of deal ...or "model in hand"
this effect does pic up well on camera in 1/16th

This is quite easy once you get the hang of it...takes a little bit of time and practice when you are starting out
Washes are even easier

chasing the over shooting with the airbrush with a brush....color choice for the wash does play into the equation as well...most use black...Arnie used a dark brown if I am not mistaken...It really all depends on how bold or how subtle you want to go

I hope this helps ED... It's kind of difficult to explain "Technique"...it's much easier to "instruct"...first hand...where the method can be directed......directly
