I'm personally running 12V on a 7.1 system. I've heard others have had issues with the 7.0 boards not wanting to run at higher voltage. Like others have said, I would only plug in the power switch, the speaker, and the battery. And you said the lights never stop flashing so it's probably not a bad speaker of which I have had 3 bad ones on the 7/7.1 boards.
Yes, it's the correct radio.

The tank has a 7.0 board and I'm using its original 7.0 transmitter.

To be 100% sure, I also tried a known-good 7.0 transmitter from my other working Sherman, and this tank refuses to bind to that one either.

I have also tried the minimal setup suggested (just the board, battery, speaker, and power switch), but the result is the same.

The symptoms are consistent no matter what I do:
I've tried both a fully charged 2S (7.4V) LiPo and 3S (9.9V) LiFe battery.

The board gets power, which I confirmed by plugging in the headlights.

The headlights just do the slow "on/off" pulse, which confirms it has power but no connection to the transmitter.

It never binds or makes the engine start-up sound, or any other tank function.

Yes, both radios bind quickly with the Sherman

ok that shows binding procedure is correct and the transmitters are ok
but its looking like either the mfu or another part that plugs into mfu has gone faulty
sorry but im at a loss for what to suggest next

Sounds like the MFU is toast at this point.
