This stuff is Fascinating Gigs....so once you got it to that point...the parts in white is the part that gets printed?

On a side note...did you ever print up coolers for your M1?? :haha:

3rd WIP of the MT-1 turret.

seperation of major parts and pieces for the ease off printing. do note that nancy right there in the middle is 1:1 scale. and this model is in full size. will shrink it to 1:16 scale.

I think it is split in the middle. I haven't seen any pictures of the hatch open but there is a handle on the top and I've seen models with a split in the middle like this-

Pure speculation here...I don't think it opened like the later version....in all the images I've seen..just like Woz...that hatch is always closed...I have a hunch it was bolted in place and lifted off with a winch the bend looks like it might have been done for easy line up

Good question there GiGs

Do any of the pics show hinges? Given the size of the panel they'd be pretty obvious.

No...tried all kinds of searches...all you see are the bolts and one handle or what might be a lift ring on the top

This is the closest ...but the hatch is totally gone...not swung to any side

Unless someone else with better eyes can see it that is ;)

Good afternoon,
Checking out some of the research I did for the 'Palace' and photos from 'Stalin's Giants' , there is no hinge on the back plate for the 'Big Barn' turret. It was bolted on and used primarily ( supposedly) as a means to remove the main gun for repair.
regards,
