Just a tip Ed...on the weak colors like the Yellow...since you have one coat down ....use a slightly larger brush...and stipple it ...when you reach an edge..switch to a smaller brush...use the same technique ;)

Anyone have any ideas on mixing a wash? How thin do I make it? And do I apply it before the clear?

Ed, looking very good my friend!

A wash is nothing more then a very thinned out color. Mix up a color you like, or just use whatever one you want out of a bottle and add thinner till its like dirty water then just brush it on VERY SPARINGLY!

There are videos on YouTube showing how in more detail then this but this is a rough idea.

Ed,
I am very pleased by the Finnish tri-color paint job you are putting together. The colors are crisp and really break up the outline of the tank. Following along with Jackalope's advice, I would suggest a pin wash of diluted black to make all of the rivets, bolts and weld marks on the T34 pop out. Following along.
regards,
Painless

Just take your time, take a break if you need to and remember you can always fix paint with more paint.

Really depends on what kind of paint you are using ED...oil or petroleum based paints...let them dry till cured pretty well...about two days...you should be able to wash right over without a clearcoat....if acrylic....you have to be real fast....plan your ideas of what and where you want to wash.....shoot one coat of clear...not too heavy...let that dry ....do not make a hard shell with the clear....a misty rough surface is what you will want...just enough to protect the acrylics below it...then quickly hit it with the wash....do not back track on the stroke...go layer by layer allowing each to dry ...when you get the result you want...clear coat that ;)

Good Luck ED
