Seems like these are the gearboxes included. Can anyone tell me if they are 4.1 or 5.1?
http://www.asiatam.com/product_info.php ... tug-i.html
The description dont say much else than they are for Panzer III, so I am asuming they are short shafts.
If these are 5.1 gears, I might just put them in the KV-1. It need short shafts anyway for the metal hull/sprockets, and I want it to be a slow crawler. The standard HL gearbox it have now maket it really really fast!!!
I want the PzIV a bit faster, so I'm guessing 4.1 or 3.1 pro steel gears in that.
Can see from rctank.de that all the pro gearbox shafts are 8.06mm, so that narrows down my search for shaft supports, but I guess I will have to live without ballbearings.

Arnie Hi, It sounds to me that you do not have but need an "ELECTRONIC DIGITAL CALIPER," absolutely essential, and not just for measuring the diameter of Axles, E-BAY is selling them for less than £10, I am sure you possess some tools that you would never part with, well my ELECTRONIC DIGITAL CALIPER is one of my top tools, It probably gets more use than my DREMEL!! And my PIN VISE.

Thank you guys. Will definetly get me a caliper when I get home. It was already in consideration for my "to get" list. Now its on there
Trying to convince the wife to take a picture of one of the gearboxes for me, but it is getting harder to convince her, that I need all those pictures, when I can just do it myself in about two weeks time, when I get home.
Would be so much easier to do it myself, instead of explaining her to take a picture of the thing with the round pointy things in it
Update:
HA!! Surprice! The wife just sent me some pictures of the Gearboxes. To me they look like the taigen 5.1 steel gears. Yes??

Just a thought on the gearboxes, might be an idea to strip them down and put some grease on the gear shafts.
I few years back I had a set of Mato gearboxes which had different speed gears on same shaft like them in the picture which caused a lot of friction and burnt out the motors when seized. It might of been just my luck or the Mato construction, but worth keeping an eye on.

On my "to do" list. Thanks

Do you have any grease/lubricant you can recommend for this task, as well as normal maintenance??

I just use a general silicone grease. I got from a car parts shop so it's marketed towards automotives but does the job I find.
I don't put any on the actual teeth of the gears or oil as it just flies off and covers everything and makes a mess.

Thanks

I actually wanted to cover the teeth, like I do with my airsofts, but I can see the trouble with an open gearbox in a tank, instead of the closed system in an airsoft.
Also just heard back from Asiatam and they confirm the gearbox is a 5.1 with 7,99mm shaft

Stuff from Panzer_command arrived as well!
Accidentaly ordered plastic hatches for the KV-1, before I saw Forgebear had them in Metal. But they can go on my extra KV-1 hull for a future build.

Got home from my deployment tonight and after saying hi to my wife and putting her back to bed, I started working just a bit on the tanks.
Assembeled the KV-1 hull and metal tracks. Need some work on the suspension, as its sagging quite a bit in one side.
Also started a bit of work on the Panzer IV.
But this it what it looks like, when coming home, and just randomly start looking at all the stuff, that arrived, while you where away
