It's just very concentrated and needs to be watered down allot, I doubt the active agent in it is any different from any other brand but in a round about way you get more for your money I guess. Paints are 17ml.

Since I can't move forward with the hull due to a couple of items I figure I may as well pain the turret.

Lots of masking tape needed!

Stuff didn't arrive so more painting of wheels and the turret.

In allot of photos of very used King Tigers many seem to have what looks like oil around the centre of the wheel on some of the road wheels. I assume it's been used to loosen up those bolts because the road wheels had a self sealing grease nipple on them AFAIK. The captured 332 has all it's wheels like this. I don't want to do it on all of them but figured I'd give it a try on a few.

C-Hooks and holders have arrived! Got some inspiration on weathering as well because last Thursday I got to see two real, in the flesh King Tigers at Bovington.

I've yet to wire them up properly but some banana plugs arrived today so this weekend will get it all wired up and running and try and make something. Previously when I trialed them the wires were just held using tape.

This is the current state. Wheels are almost done. Turret is awaiting the dots and tactical numbers. It's painted as near as I can get it to an 'early' style factory finish ambush scheme, which is what most King Tigers after the dropping of zimmerit would have looked like. Not sure which numbers I will use because it will be a 506abt Dec '44 delivery which fought until April 1945 then was one of 5 which were destroyed by it's crew when the company disbanded. I can't find the details on which tanks these were only that it saw enough fighting that all of it's fenders and the light at the front was blown off in the pictures that exist.

Currently and very slowly building the Aber late clamps. Turns out they're even more fiddly than the early ones but look nice enough. The Aber fire extinguisher is pretty awesome as well but I broke the hinge. Not to much of a problem though as I don't really want the bottle to move around. Once all is done I can paint the hull and get on with the bit I actually enjoy which is the aging and weathering.

On a further note about the Mig Ammo paint - I'm liking it more and more over Tamiya. The ball bearing in the bottle is a nice touch as well. They brush paint really nicely. The finish between brush and airbrush is indistinguishable.

That is one awesome build....

I've been trying to get my KT off the ground for some time now, but life keeps getting in the way.

Thanks for all the pictures...

Regards,

Alex

Thanks!

Hooked up the motors to the ESC and gave it a proper run up. Found a small but easily fixed problem with the gear boxes - the grub screws are cone ended which means that there is a small amount of play. I've ordered some flat ended grub screws to replace them which will get rid of the play and possible wear on the screws/axles.

I need something to break up the tedium of making PE clamps.

Finish the dots, tidied up the scratches from the fluid. They look a little stark right now but the filters and oils will blend them a little.
